Did you notice google review censorship ?

Many of my negative reviews I wrote for restaurants, shops and what not, got " deleted " as they are apparently against google policy.

Reviewing these reviews, I see nothing wrong with it as all of them are written in a respectful and civil truthful manner and not contain any offensive words at all.

These businesses must report comments to google and google seems to take reviews down then even if they are not against actual policy.

Conclusion: Google reviews are completely useless as ratings are almost always not real...if businesses can just use google as a tool to remove anything they dont like to see.

Maybe this is not actual " censorship " but it certainly ruins the purpose of reviews.

of course you won't see them as wrong, but you see what you wrote as the truth may infact be complete nonsense not worthy of the review section to another and those are their rules, follow them and the review sticks, ignore them and see them get constantly deleted.
I see companies manipulating reviews to only be seen in a positive light as very wrong, and very scummy.

But you can't blame them either. Businesses are a business to make money.
Google has two features that can affect your reviews...

- Your Google Account is overall flagged for review abuse and therefore it goes across the lot checking for malicious reviews or what might be considered as review bombing.

- The business itself can ask Google to review and remove your review.

This then considers the following...
- Fake engagement (if you actually didn't purchase their product or service, it can be removed)
- Impersonation accounts
- Misinformation
- Misrepresentation
- Harassment
- Hate Speech
- Offensive content
- Personal information leaked
- Obscenity and Profanity
- Sexual content
- Adult-themed
- Violence, gore or threats
- Deemed dangerous
- Illegal content
- Not safe for children
- Terrorism
- Off-topic and unrelated
- Advertising and solicitation
- Repetitive or deemed as spam content
- Defacement or mischief

Each of those they branches into a lot more. It's quite detailed and well covered.

For example: If you have multiple google accounts spamming only negative, it will be able to detect that review bombing pattern and remove them all accordingly.

Another example: If you reviewed a local business in which google maps has previously detected you physically visited a few days ago and purchased a product or service from, then that review is more trusted and allowed, even if negative. While you have other positive reviews also for different locations around your area...

They can do whatever they want and it'll be excused via plausible deniability arguments (spam, bots, manipulation, autodetect systems).
Why would you trust a company that promotes sites like wish?
google is a trash heap.

But I have seen this happening on sites of government institutions as well !

Most likely the government.
Haven't noticed a thing, but that's because all my negative reviews are still there.

Seems to be more of an issue in Germany then I guess.

google being explicitly authoriatarian and using post-modernist racial interpretation if not outright corrupt? Who could have seen this coming! Jokes aside, as obvious and "no ♥♥♥♥," as this is please continue to point it out and we should continue to complain and note that it's happening. No matter how obvious it is we shouldn't let it be left under the radar and unrecorded
Honestly after looking several reviews on restaurants (as someone who hates restaurants btw) is literaly impossible to take most of them seriously... :steambored:

And I mostly mean the negative reviews on them... Is one of the best examples of "the customer is not always right"

Just like in videogames, not everybody takes reviews seriously 🤷‍♀️

And how does this justify them deleting reviews ?
As long as a review does not spread false information to harm a business, it should be up there, otherwise all the reviews are nonsense in the first place and ratings for places are 100% NOT credible.
