Haha, that's so real. I'd rather use a productive OS rather than losing my mind over some dumb ass error that takes you 7 days to solve. No thanks linux.

most of those lead back to attempting windows emulation or trying to use some component of the windows package for compatiability's sake.

leaving windows largely unmodified mitigates instances of such things occurring in windows. as long as the worm doesn't decide to attack you for some trans-internet architecture reason, such as microsoft borrowing spare cycles to try and ddos a wormcluster or some other insane and poorly-conceived idea.

pretty much.
I have no idea what you're talking about, I've never had an issue with windows randomly deciding to do ddos attacks from my computer? Is that what you're saying?

There's a worm that infects every copy of windows and found its way into their codebase as well, so it comes pre-installed on all Windows machines.

During the 2000 era Microsoft got caught borrowing people's spare cycles for use in attacking nodes the worms had embedded in, hoping they might one day figure out how to remove it from their own codebase. Via brute force. This was illegal but they were never prosecuted for it, instead agreeing to pursue other avenues.

As long as Windows engages in certain best-practice behaviors the worm is harmless. Any attempt to circumvent those practices, even if it's just a patch to make them viable but non-standard, leads to the worm messing with the kernel in destructive ways.

As long as you're careful and you customize Windows to perform how you want, there's no reason to use Linux outside of saving on some resources like RAM and CPU usage.

Linux is more of a headache for gaming since with Windows, it's just load and go. With Linux, you have to make sure proton is set to the right layer. Sometimes that layer doesn't work despite everyone saying it does. It's a bit of a hassle.

Moral of the story: be smart on Windows and you'll never have a problem.

So basically you're saying that you're still living 23 years in the past and can't understand that things have LONG HAVE CHANGED?

I mean if there's a worm in my pc, then it's not doing anything because I never see anything suspicious on glasswire, which monitors network activity on your computer.

Microsoft also managed to isolate and copy the worm, and create their own version that attempts to attack the other.

But it was based on an uncompresed version, so the original can basically walk into the Microsoft worm and rewrite it like it was another OS component.

because Microsoft designed its clone worm for destruction it basically attacks components at random now, even if you do everything right. and the clone worm also got out of control, made its own clusters, and is now basically another piece of windows spyware that floats around at random.

this is extremely similar to the shiro/kuro viruses, which I assume were experiments meant to try and deal with the windows worm.

consequently there is no version of windows that is usable for very long. inevitably either you do something that upsets the windows worm or you draw attention of the microsoft worm and they destroy your system fighting with eachother.

if microsoft hadn't stolen my codebase none of this would have happened.

it's a local worm, and it wouldn't reach into the network until it compromised your monitoring software.

the worm itself was developed in the 90s, and windows 98 was an attempt to release an os that didn't have it. this is when they discovered their own codebse was infected and that every copy came with a worm egg pre-embedded.

You're crazy.

I didn't release the worm; I just programed it the first time.

Then Microsoft agents from the future, a doomed timeline, came back to encourage someone else to create the same worm. As I had already decided not to recreate it myself. It was never going to bring my BSD branch back.

You try Linux. Might I recommend Arch? It's VERY user friendly.

Do the elderly recognize and feel comfortable using it?

Will arch be here in 30 years?
Linux is great BTW!
