every. single. time you talk about something related to windows these mfers will start telling you about how great linux is and how you should inmediately swap to it.

dude, i dont ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ care just let me use windows.

at some point i will change to linux, and i know that, but only when im ready and completely tired from windows, i wont instantly change because some dude on the internet told me to

I'm switching to Linux at the end of the year because Windows 11 is hot trash.

Most the games in my library I play will run natively on Linux.

Windows has been going downhill since the release of 7.

I'm not a Linux fanboy since I haven't used it yet but I sure am a Windows hater.

♥♥♥♥ Microsoft.

Windows 11 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rancid pile of trash and I'd rather eat rusty needles from a methadone clinic than install it on my desktop. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nasty ass Mac OS forced ads AI BS.

Anyway. To answer your question, probably not.
i used to have windows 7 and man, i really think that windows 10 is waaaay better

never used windows 11 tho

the kernel is more stable in 11, and I think you can change your desktop background without putting a doom timer on the kernel now. otherwise the inevitable hidden demons haven't appeared yet.

really famous Microsoft plant. not even a real beard.
My PC has Win11 and it works fine for me. I'd imagine Linux is good for some people but the issue I have is that many games don't run on it or require a lot of tech know-how to do so. With Windows you know that the OS won't be an issue with running a game unless you are one of the people who refuse to upgrade from Win7 for some reason.

Then there's MacOs. I don't know why any gamer would use a Mac...

It used to be extremely easy to defeat copyright protection on Mac, since it gave you mostly-complete console access with few restrictions and Handbrake plug-ins were ezpz. It also wasn't getting pinged 24/7 by sweepers designed to make your OS feel unsafe, as many Linux builds have to deal with. Again, Microsoft policy. Although a rare instance of them simply copying already-occurring processes (COUGH.)

So you'd rip on the Mac then dunk it onto your custom linux build that's configured for windows emulation.

It helped that Mac hardware was designed to mimic a black box as often as possible, so spoofing the MAC address was surprisingly easy.

I'm on Windows 10 right now. I don't mind it, but it's still just been a variety of design choices I don't like since 7 onward.

Steam is dropping Windows 10 support at the end of this year, that's why I'm swapping to Linux because it's either that or Windows 11.

I bought a laptop with 11 and I think I used it maybe twice because the interface is just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad. It's like they took the worst parts of the Mac OS GUI and Window-ized them.

They also removed the ability for me to move the location of my taskbar which is a deal breaker. My taskbar goes on the left of the screen vertically or I'm not using your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ OS. I just started looking for things to hate after I realized they removed that option from the system.

Along with a bunch of little things that they had to later patch in. Like the ability to "open file location" with right clicking. They removed it, got complaints and then had to add it back in.

Plus 100 other tiny things I could go on forever about. Honestly I can't wait to switch I'm just being lazy.

you can configure the gui elements, and there's fewer must-removes than in 10 imo.

heh, UI is one thing Linux can never get quite right (because they're all developed and maintained by people who think you should be using the terminal for everything instead), but none of the fanboys will ever admit that XD

There's tons of people who focus on UI development.

They just don't usually know how to configure a good build, or what kinds of terminal-based configuration hooks people might want.

Microsoft has employees who encourage conflicts between the two groups. Very English business practice.

What can you remove from openbox? :)

huh? let me look that up.

os security.

because of the way windows handles any kind of kernel integration you're more or less creating the circumstances where you can lose control over your system due to third party attacks if you install second party software below a certain level of access.

context menus and secondary window managers for powershell or other terminal add-ons are pretty infamous for this, openbox incompatiability being one of the more famous instances of windows purposefully designing its kernel not to support window managers.

this is by design to create a 'homogenous operating environment' similar to how Macs created their own gated infrastructure.

most of those lead back to attempting windows emulation or trying to use some component of the windows package for compatiability's sake.

leaving windows largely unmodified mitigates instances of such things occurring in windows. as long as the worm doesn't decide to attack you for some trans-internet architecture reason, such as microsoft borrowing spare cycles to try and ddos a wormcluster or some other insane and poorly-conceived idea.
