yeah but that's because packaging is proprietary specifically to prevent windows from using the same system, or copyrighting and gating the system.
like not just pacman or other package managers; repositories themselves are privately held.
the end result is that windows is dysfunctional because it never receives the benefit of any paradigm shifts in development, and linux is a completely dysfunctional mass of competing OS' none of which actually work out of the box.
yes it's how it works. linux has become part of the problem, and also the reason nothing works. right alongside windows.

Tbh I'm kind of surprised that no one is mentioning Mint or Rhino, Mint is very user friendly and Rhino as I understand it is basically Mint/Ubuntu with rolling releases which apparently a lot of folks have been wanting for years..
