Your First Castlevania Game?

For those that played a Castlevania game, what was your first? For me it was Castlevania 64. My favorite entry in the series is Legacy of Darkness.

I played the first one on NES, also rented Castlevania 2 when it came out, but didn't play any of the rest of the series again until maybe a couple years ago. Since then I've gone back and beaten 1, 2, 3, 4, Rondo, SotN, Aria, Dawn, and Ecclesia. Ecclesia being my favorite with CV3 a close second.

Oh not at all. Grim Reaper fight in CV1 is extremely easy when you know what to do.

Simon's Quest. I merely thought Castlevania II was just the subtitle. And with David Bowie on the cover art I knew it would be good.
No outside help. Found all the secrets myself beat the game. Memorized my winning password even to this day.

Does Rogue Legacy count? That's the only castle-knight puzzle platformer I've ever played.

I got this one as part of a Christmas present that included a brand new silver Gameboy Pocket. Previously, I remember my mom asking me what kinds of games I liked. I was on an adventure game kick at the time, think King's Quest and Monkey Island, so I just said, "Adventure games". Lo and behold for Christmas I get the aforementioned Gameboy, Castlevania: The Adventure, and Final Fantasy Adventure. She really listened, even though those weren't exactly the kinds of "adventure" games I was thinking of.

I don't have a console, I'd prefer to play them on a console since I feel that's how you are supposed to play them if I had to guess. :/

You know, I actually did play the original briefly. I didn't like it at all. It's possible I just didn't play enough to get into a groove. But if memory serves, in that one you had a whip or something as your weapon and it has a teeny tiny hitbox and stuff would come at you in sinusoid waves or something that made them really hard to hit. And this was in like the first two or three minutes of play. I could be wrong about some of the details, since it was a looooong time ago, but bottom line is it frustrated me.
