And I was as frustrating for me then as it is now.
Same. Like whenever you get hit, by anything, it aims you right for the nearest hole to fall down.
In fact before playing Symphony of the nbight I "tried" Super Castlevania 4 and Castlevania Bloodlines BUT it was on e-word, back then e-word was not exactly perfect and my computer was not exactly spectacular, and I used to exploit saved states too much in a way that made games unenjoyable (I did not relize tha). SO at first I did not like Super Castlevania 4 too much mostly because I ruined it using saved states too much in annoying ways.
Then for some reasons after various years I decided to buy it on the Wii and in the Wii version I could not use saved states freely, the only way to save this kind of games was to quit them without turning off the console, well, this taught me how to play games without ruining them with save states and I finally understood how great Super Castlevania 4 is, I really loved it and it is my favourite.
Unfortunately I do not like Bloodlines that much, I love the Mega Drive but I think that Bloodlines has an art style that is too much inconsistent and it is often ugly, and the colors are bad. Some sprites are great, some oither are bad, and some of them use styles that are too different from each other and look even worse because of that. I also prefer the gameplay of Super Castlevania 4.
Bloodlines is not terribly bad but could have been much better for sure and since Super Castlevania 4 exist playing Bloodlines is a waste of time imo. I also tried Rondo of blood on the Wii and did not like it but I liked enough the remake on the PSP.

Happens that at my elementary school we where exchanging them with other yellow cartridges after finishing a game. The 90s.
Happend that one kid next class had it, I gave it double dragon and got castlevania as the first game.
It would be cool to see a side scroller version but updated to modern times. The 3D versions are very different.
