But it differs between stations, there's only one I'd play.
Why not use the internet to get news?
My biggest gripe is the lack of control, and the amount of ads they throw at you. If I want to listen to say Metallica Master of Puppets, I'll go to YouTube and either pick the song or play the full album. You don't have that kind of control when you're on radio.
Like this, heard this first time on the radio:

I listen to the radio in the car when I'm driving.
But, I listen to Public Radio. So, it's news, interesting cultural bits of stuff, interviews with people, science, and all sorts of interesting discussions and tidbits.
If I listen to music, it's rare and usually because I'm traveling and am out of range of a local Public Broadcasting station.
It's not that I don't like music, it's that I like public radio and what it offers me... more. I can hear music just about anywhere. But, an engaging story with real-life stuffs? That's got extra benefits and all sorts of different kinds of entertainment while driving.
I'm not a music collector, so I don't have "my own stuff".
And, if it gets boring or annoying or whatever, there's always the option to turn it off.
