What is your favorite Linux Distro?
and why?

I am currently using Debian. The simplicity and GNOME shell extensions allow me to make my preferred desktop experience and the fact that it's debian means almost everything I need is supported.

There's a real possibility Linux will go corporate and I'll have to abandon it for BSD.

I already do 2/3rds of my gaming through Lutris.
To a some point, both are already corporate.

I could have tried to run RPCS3 on FreeBSD, given that it is already supported natively, but I missed to do so.
Not altogether false. I always want to have a free distro.

But it also has to work.

Debian is among my favourites, although I am using openSUSE Tumbleweed at the moment.

What is the best Linux Distro for a tech-illiterate uncle?
Mint , Ubuntu or PopOS

My mom who is very tech illiterate has been using Ubuntu for 2 years now. It's great for browsing the web/checking email / organizing photos etc.
I'd also add Fedora (especially Fedora Silverblue)

Have that installed on my step father's laptop, as he is not very tech savvy. I trust him with that way more than I would with even Windows.
Linux desktop is catastrophic. Every time i take a look at it, features from years ago have been removed. it's really a sad story that should have been ended years ago. :ccff7r_tonberry:
WaifuOS.
But in all honestly the best is probably mint the few i have tried it always result in going back to windows after a week.

Xubuntu probably. Nothing fancy or exciting, it's just light and stable. Gets out of your way. At least that was the case when I used it, which was a few years ago now (currently on boring Ubuntu). I also like Tuxedo OS, but it not supporting secure boot makes me not want to use it.

Thinking of trying out Fedora, the KDE spin in particular.

I'm guessing you've been looking at GNOME :P.

Do you have a particular favourite as far as DE? LM comes in a few of them. I would assume Cinnamon but maybe your one of the MATE enjoyers.

Yeah, I love Cinnamon. Nothing comes close imo. I am not even that big a fan of Plasma in other distros.
Arch. Used to be a debian guy, but I feel like most of the momentum that I like seeing development-wise, has been on arch.

Debian (at least Debian Stable) was never the distro to go to if you want to embrace the latest GNU/Linux has to offer, so I get that.
Well I tried a lot of ubuntu reskins but always end up at mint xfce. My favorite DE is definitely xfce. It's light, minimal and just works.

I plan to switch to arch though because I do want to configure every little detail and have a very minimal and clean system and also I often have an issue on mint with needing newer packages and not having them available. Plus, I get to tell people that I use Arch btw and feel superior.
Lubuntu because it looks old school
