I think you might want to be a little more specific with what sort of experience you would want those games to provide for you.

For example, these might run perfectly well (Shooters)

(Some might need some fan-provided direction or mods to tweak them for modern systems)

But, would you be satisfied with their sort-of-dated appearance?

And, what about this (survival):

https://www.unrealworld.fi/ (Free)

All these are "great games."

I've been playing this, but on console. It's heckin' great! (It seems like it'd run on your laptop.)

(ARPG, survival'ish, base-building, crafting, looter boss-hunter, open-world, etc. Terraria+Isometric ARPG)

PS: I'd like to know what gets suggested as well, so will follow the thread with interest, particularly with the "survival" recommends.

If you also like RTS's, this is one of the best that was ever created:

It's not that I'm a Star Wars game nut. It's that when people talk about lower-end systems and great games, these are what come to mind.

Did you just say shooter? Boomer shooters are popping up everywhere if that's your thing. Here's a copy paste of some good stuff. I keep em listed somewhere.

DUSK
AMID EVIL
AMID EVIL - The Black Labyrinth
Ion Fury
Ion Fury Aftershock
Phantom Fury
Dread Templar
Turbo Overkill
Severed Steel
CULTIC
Warhammer 40k Boltgun
ULTRAKILL
HROT
POSTAL: Brain Damaged
Prodeus
Boomerang X
Turok
Hedon
Selaco
Maximum Action
Fashion Police Squad
ULTRAKILL
Project Warlock
Ashes 2063

I deleted the ones I know to require stronger systems. Check the system requirements anyway in case I missed some.

I do recommend the DOOM modding scene if you are into that. Search for megawads. Search for total overhauls on moddb. Give Ashes 2063 a try. Episode 3 came out recently. It's awesome. I can recommend you more stuff if you are into DOOM.
