Coming from a country where political violence was the rule of the day... (thank god it's peaceful now...) You guys are VERY close to that one. It all starts with political violence and ideological differences... it's awful

It's flabbergasting as I would've never thought an assassination attempt would happen like this in 2024 in all places BUT the US.

But... the forums here always have a lot of free advice being given to "The U.S." by people who may not really know much about the U.S. It sort of gets a bit... tiresome.

I do believe that some supporters of Trump are capable of some very unheard of stuffs... We've had assassination attempts in the past with no "Civil War" being the result. But, Trump's supporters are whipped into a frenzy on the regular by politicians desperate for a path to power. No offense intended, it just is as it is. Then, there's the outside influencers... I am sure they're hitting social media in full force, especially the "Radical Right" websites/social media built after most middle-of-the-road social media rejected them.

So, it's not beyond reason to expect some reactions... I expect some demonstrations, some of which may get out of hand. I expect some whackjobs to attempt delusional "reprisals," too.

More than that? I don't think so. But, I never thought I'd see Jan 6'th, either.

People who've been talking about civil war in recent years clearly don't understand 21st Century Americans. Or they stand to profit somehow off -fears- of a conflict (news media, book publishers, arms manufacturers, survivalist grifters, etc) by selling a fantasy. The truth is we're too self-entitled to sacrifice our comfort let alone our lives for a cause and too sheltered/squeamish to take lives - especially those of our neighbors - with serious premeditation.

The real threat is increased domestic terrorism but not an organized conflict. The worst case scenario is enough of the people who are far enough off the deep end to engage in violence form a militia that takes a few towns in Idaho before being annihilated by the military.
