The irony of the USA taxes
just a moment ago i saw a thread talking aboat how the EU shoud adopt USA taxes. I thougth of a quite funny reply but i decided to make it a independent thread.

the irony in that is that the US rebeled against britan because they put high taxes on them. 250 years later, they got:

- income tax
- inheretace tax
- buying tax
- "time spent in restarrant" tax
- "Obnoxios Tiping culture" tax (it works like one)
- "Forced tiping" tax ( bruh)

and the list goes on.

Ponder...

Vast majority of customers tip but to suggest they do that 100% voluntarily is absurd.
There are consequences.
No there aren't.

That's some paranoid right-wing thinking.
There are restauraunts/bars with cameras and while it's hard to say how much they pay attention to them it's not always easy to figure out if you have to tip when some people say nobody cares but the other says there will be consequences and since you are scum for not tipping everybody is going to turn a blind eye.

And if you eat with people you know or mention to them in conversations that you don't tip there are absolutely Social consequences and they will judge you no matter what you say to them.

I don't care what people think about me.

If you work in like tech industry in USA you can get 6 weeks vacation, like $200k salary, paid healthcare insurence and so on, issue is about the people at low incomes.

Don't forget property taxes.

You paid off the car, but you still pay yearly for it in property taxes. Same with the land and stuff. It's almost like... it's not really MY land...

Owned free and clear but pay around 400 a year in land taxes.

Some states have a "wheel tax" where you are taxed by number of wheels on the vehicles like trailers.

The problem I have is all the roads still suck and the schools still need money. So wth.

What we really have is a government that can't stop spending money. That's the reason the taxes have gotten worse here.

Most people when given other peoples money to spend they don't spend it wisely. That is the definition of the U.S. Government in a nutshell.

I taught in South Korea for nearly 15 years. And the reason I stayed there for so long was I didn't have to pay taxes. You are tax exempt when you work outside America. You still have to file taxes though. No state and no federal up till $92k. And so, if I made $60k for that year, I paid the Korean Vat tax of 3% of that time and that was it. As you can imagine I was able to save the majority of my wage.

The school paid for my apartment, so no housing cost. No vehicle cost, just taxi cost. Living in Asia is super cheap. And no US taxes. I saved over 70% of my income and retired at 45. You can hate the system, and that is because most people are just ignorant.

Its not YOUR land. You'll pass away and someone else will get YOUR land.

The reality is we don't own anything. Everything is loaned until we die. Than someone else gets your stuff and so on... We don't own anything.

You only get that at the high-end tech jobs. A great majority will never get there.

You seem to always take the highest average and apply it to everyone in that category. That isn't valid.

Pretty much! I consider it on loan from God already so the concept is easily understood in my case.

The point is at those jobs USA have probably the best benefits in the world.

Actually, I'm paying a "car tax" here.

And while the piece of land is still part of the country, my car definitely is not. It's just a matter of "what can be taxed". Just like land property is recorded in a public office, so are cars -- so it's easy to levy a tax on car ownership. And that's in addition to fuel tax, VAT for said fuel, and I'm pretty sure the insurance company has to deduct VAT or something similar as well.

Well, if you're not a truck, there's no tolls except on a very few private roads on private property. But, they considered doing that for cars too, and I'm pretty sure it's not entirely off the table...

they need all the shekels they can get
xDDD Jul 13, 2024 @ 7:00am
Don't forget about the part where you have to file them every year and, despite them knowing exactly what you owe, you still have to figure it out and you better not be wrong!

Oh and the forms are huge and a PITA too, so usually you'll pay somebody to do them for you which is essentially yet another tax.
