Portable hard disk
I just bought a 1TB portable hard drive from HP. How can I download games to this hard drive?

You gotta install the hard drive into Steam. Go to the top left corner on Steam. Click on the settings button. Should be the one that says Steam I think. Click settings. Then a pop up will appear. Go to Storage. Then click on "Add Drive" and if your hard drive is connected, it should pop up. Then just go back to the library, click install on a game and select the hard drive.

Edit: Cool. I'm the marked answer, lol.

Pick the drive and download
Copy the Steam Appdata folder.

But only for backup purposes. Don't try to run games directly off an external disk. You probably could get away with it with USB 3.2, but it's unnecessarily complicated.
However, I found that when I clicked to download, it still only prompted me with the C drive and D drive that came with my computer itself.

Have fun. :steamhappy:
So, can this portable hard drive of mine be ejected from the computer? If this is done, will there be any potential problems when playing the games on this hard drive next time? For example, file damage and so on

I'm pretty sure for Steam, it's probably a software thing. So if you placed this hard drive to a different computer. I think it should work fine as long as Steam is on it.
