How important is it to you to be honest?

To me it is the most important thing not only toward others but also towards yourself. without honesty we swim in a sea of lies, when i was younger i lacked the courage to be honest but now i realise how important it is. speak your truth, say how you feel. In a world of lies nobody seems to understand how critical this is.

to strangers, those you do not: not at all important. if a lie saves you some trouble, so be it.

Truth should be revealed to the honorable law abiding people.

The exception is if the bad guys come by and want to know were certain people are.

One can lie and still be a good person, provided that it causes no harm to others.
If you believe what you say then you can never change for the better.
But thank you for being brutally honest on the internet where that isn't even necessary.

i can relate in a way if i told people some of the things i think and feel they would probably lock me away, but thats not really how i think of being honest, honesty is not the same as truth. honesty to me is expressing your honest thoughts where as truth is laying out all your secrets, truth can be dangerous i agree, but honesty is a valuable thing that lets you speak your truth without revealing those dark secrets we all have.

Depends on the situation. Not everybody wants honesty, because it's usually brutal. It's rare that I'll outright lie to somebody, but I will hold my tongue if need be.

Well because my mother and sisters have lied so much in my life i value truth and honesty, i don't trust my mother or sisters and they can't just "win" that back.

Problem i have on the forums is just I'm quite honest but i don't know when people are joking or lying, So i end up looking stupid and people have a good laugh.

I'd say I'm too honest for most of the contemporary public, because I have no qualms about saying things you aren't "supposed to" or acknowledging issues that many would rather ignore. And I only rarely lie for the mere sake of social niceties; "politeness" is overrated by people too attached to their sycophants and delusions.

There are other times when honesty is a terrible idea. Like when someone is trying to take advantage of you or mine information in a manipulative way. I do enjoy purposefully feeding those types misinformation.

and sometimes I concoct complex fictions just to ♥♥♥♥ with people, occasionally even long-term narratives. What can I say, psyops are fun

Not much. In fact I don't really trust everything people said.

Also I don't value honesty in my line of work. Telling my customer how they smell or how obnoxious they are would be really bad.
