What is going on in Texas and Florida?
Out-Of-The-Loop

:BatteryFull: Scandinavian here. :BatteryFull:

There is a lot of articles in Europe right now about legal changes happening fast in both Florida and Texas. Why is all of this happening and why is it happening right now these days?

Help a Scandinavian out, understanding what is going on. Please explain like I'm 5. I need to understand what is going on across the Atlantic from a none media source (like from you guys).

EDIT: Typos

EDIT 2:
Steam sells progressive games and games with adult content.
Just curious. Will that also be in danger of getting banned in those two states?

EDIT 3:
Thanks for everyone trying to provide answers. Also, a big thanks to the MODs moderating this thread properly.

Let's all keep this thread clean and constructive together.
Come on people. We can do this

"Highly sexual themes."

You're kidding right? I guess talking about sexual abuse and what it does to someone is "highly sexual themes" now.

The book has non-consensual actions and acts so vile I can't name them here.

Ever see Clerks 2 "Kelly"? That's all I'll say.

Also the people in the book are all under-age. So it's underage drinking, etc.

Only weirdos want novels featuring underage sex in elementary/middle school libraries.

Your hyperbole is showing.

Forgetting it being a religious text, should the Bible be available in school libraries?

Where's the 3 page little boy and big boy gay sex scene, going in precise detail about moaning and ♥♥♥♥ length featured?

Imagine banning Winnie the pooh bear, and Mary Poppins type stuff ... then your kids are at their friends house lol

If parents imagine their kids snorting Oxy and finding the weirdest crap imaginable on the dark web because Phub is boring .. its a far more realistic snapshot than the bubble lie.

Modern adults are one speck above worthless.

It sucks to have parents that serve evil.

Very few of us have (or see) parents stand up and take action, we just have a lot of manipulative rubbish that turn a blind eye to everything evil.

You consume honest factory farm torture, to harm your families health and your nations economy, You shop at Walmart to demand child slave labor.

Six year old children are left dead, chained to their stations to rot to fungi gas as an example for other's terror "Work hard for the entire 18 hour shift, or go hungry! and rot, no one cares!"

Its all for your clown family, so the next clown can have a cheep Halloween costume to throw in the trash from Costco, because you chose it.

This is the truth, your politics or school books aren't the truth, and gay is not the threat.... You are, and what you have done.

You will only know that its not true and its not you, because you worship a lie and the spirit of lies, by every action and many desires.

I say leave leave Mary Poppins alone. To you who are evil she is like a rag doll. dogs fight over her, but none can eat.

In truth, she is like a rag doll meant for children to play with, for children to learn compassion and kindness by, to foster a creativity mind capable of protecting their own fragile souls and their own future children. When you take that from them, you abandon hope, for a moment of high... and all your value is lost, forever and ever.

You're welcome :KneelingBow:

Jolly good

Does the Bible have any passages depicting underaged sex in the modern or any other era?

CAPULET:
My child is yet a stranger in the world;
She hath not seen the change of fourteen years...

I mean, the whole play is about underage sex.

Just gratuitous torture, rape, mutilation, violence, etc.

I like how the goalpost shifted to 'modern era'.

Can't believe "free speech" conservatives have started to ban books.

They refer to "children's safety".

But as soon as YouTube or social media sites implement child safety features, it's "censorship".

Hypocrites.
srsly. you can't even talk to them anymore because they make no sense.

Said by those who have been banning books/subjects and speakers on college campuses for decades, because apparently adults can't handle disagreeable information, but 3rd graders can lol

The evolutionary perspective applies, groups which do not have children grasp at ways to reproduce their evolutionary failed ideas through others children, this is why it has been historically not allowed.

not sure if underage sex, but lots, lots of sex
also murder, rape, attempted rape
and given the traditions around age of consent (or rather the absence of them) back then, yes, probably a sizeable chunk of the sex was underage

I liked how the goalposts shifted from underage sex to ... I kind of lost track of what point you were trying to make other than "Christianity bad" at this point tbh.

I liked the shifting goal posts first is the important thing to take away from my peanut brain.

I don't agree with teaching LGBTQ to 6-9 year old children or having prepubescent children become transgender behind their parents backs, but I'm glad I never had or will have children so that's something I don't have to deal with.

I only shared custody of a spoiled cat who was fixed. His only vice was wanting treats exclusively forget the cat food. :happykitty:
