I stopped receiving pockets knives as gifts when my parents found out that I had turned an icing spatula into a machete.
Currently I either carry a victorinox huntsman lite or a gerber flatiron
but I've seen pocket knives become very useful before. I saw a video of a stray dog attacking and biting on to a child, and the father just pulled out a pocket knife, stuck the dog a little, and it loosened its jaw and ran off
so pocket knives can be very useful ESPECIALLY for dog or animal attacks
Eventually it stopped being theoretical though and you realize walking around armed invites more conflict than it solves.
Besides, you don't need weapons to klll someone. You can kill someone by using the "knife edge" of your bare hand along the bridge of their nose. If you do it hard enough it can cause death, not so hard you're looking at temporary blindness, breakage and sharp pain.
This is just one of many methods (which I won't go into detail over for obvious reasons).
Suffice to say, weapons are not necessary to cause death.
Many times they don't know how to play it, and if that doesn't make them learn, they will pass it to some friend or cousin.
Also, its tradition to buy a round of beers, ofc.
I own many...
12 or 14?... I forget it was so long ago... I didn't buy it it was my grandfathers
I have a small one I have at all times... some bigger ones when needed
