What are some good gaming headphones for $100 or less?

My Razer Kraken X headphones broke recently, and by broke, I mean the head band piece of plastic snapped in 2 places and just recently stopped playing sound in the right ear. Looking for a good pair of headphones, don't really care about noise canceling, don't care about mic quality, Would like 7.1 surround sound, all I really care about is durability and sound quality. I don't know where to ask this, so if this is the wrong section to post it, tell me and I'll move it.

Ive a theory that 7.1 for gaming actually ruins the audio enough so that their cheap headphone drivers are able to actually produce those footsteps.

like it takes anything thats not footsteps and just squashes them down so only footsteps appear prevalent. Even my cheap Moondrop earphones are astonishingly accurate when it comes to imaging in Apex without any software fake surround jumbo

Sennheiser 569 or 599

Never, ever, get the sennheiser 280 pros, they are pretty cheaply made.

If you're willing to go just a little over your $100 budget, Sennheiser HD 599 would be my recommendation here (they run about $125). They're not brand new (been around since like 2017) and aren't the prettiest things in the world to look at, but they're great headphones.

Only downside might be the open back design (look up open back vs closed back if you don't know the difference). Sound leaks out, so others around you can hear it. Not great if you're going to be using them in public, but I don't. I personally like it because they're more comfortable to me, and the sound quality is really nice.

I use MSI's DS502. Comparable more to a stereo strapped on your head, than a set of precise and accurate headphones, they're great for music, and games with music. Not ideal for shooters, but no headphones under 100 dollars are. I chose them for the comfort however, a quality which they are unrivaled.

Tbh, anything "gaming" is probably overpriced.

As for surround sound in sub-100 headphones: It's all software anyway (i yet have to see a physical surround headphone at that price point). And for purposes other than competitive gaming, I'd like to have two big drivers rather than a couple small ones.

From my experience, Sennheiser had a couple of decent sub-100 headphones in the past. Some people like Teufel as a less expensive alternative.

These are my old headphones, they are high quality good sounding headphones for only $70. Stop lying about "no good headphones under $100"

I'm not saying there are no good headphones below 100 freedom bucks, quite the opposite!
I'm just saying manufacturers tend to charge extra just for marketing their products to gamers and I don't know any physical surround headphones at that price point.
Virtual surround sound can and often is achieved through software. Razer offers a solution bundled with their products, Microsoft has one built into Windows, there are also solutions to Linux. The Kraken V3 appear to be stereo headphones as well, using the same principles, but not sure if Razer's software works with headphones of other brands (it should, if there's no DRM involved).
