This is new for me, did you know the cats can get AIDS?
The FIV is a retrovirus, the same family as HIV, the difference is FIV is exclusive to felines, they can't infect humans with FIV, the transmission is by when cats are fighting each other and they get injured from a FIV positive cat, once the cat is FIV positive, the animal cannot live freely anymore.

Immuno deficiencies caused by a range of different factors are present across the biological world, FIV among the feline family is particularly common though.

There are some vaccines for it, though it has limited effectiveness.

Cat wounds may not be noticeable, and by the time symptoms actually show up - if it does, it is not always the case - the disease may be already in the advanced stages, and keeping it indoors may already be too late.

Best to keep the cat indoors to prevent this from occurring in the first place.

Err... not true ^ ^;

AIDS = Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (late stage of HIV)
HIV = Human immunodeficiency virus (for humans only).

FIV = Feline immunodeficiency virus
For cats. It's spread from bites and attacks, origin from an Africa lion.

It's different virus and FIV does not evolve to AIDS.

No, they cannot get AIDS anymore since the invention of HIV. Since then, AIDS refers to only "late stage" HIV specifically rather than describing the half dozen other forms of Acquired Immune Deficiencies that were and still are prevalent today. The main causes of acquired immune deficiency (not to be confused with AIDS) then and now are still synthetic chemicals, mostly glues and colorings.

Yes they have their own version of it. They also were studying wild cats with it because cat handle FIV better than we handle HIV for some reason.
