And now for the disclaimer:
This is not a solicitation. I am out of the business and anything posted here is for entertainment purposes only and is not to be construed as professional advice.
I used to be the trainer that people would go to in order to win bodybuilding contests, dominate showbiz, get on the cover of magazines... I was the guy.
And your friend is about to make some big mistakes. Also, although many of the above posters likely meant well- it's all rookie talk. They don't know these things. Few do. It's a rare speciality.
Now, first of all, normally in all of my disclaimers I urge people to consult with licensed professionals. In this case, sadly, it excludes doctors.
They can be greedy and if he went ahead with the bicep implants he would look even more ridiculous and likely get made fun of more. Tell him to utterly forget that notion. Take it out behind the barn and shoot it. Take a shovel and put it 6 feet under.
Also, no cosmetic look is going to help him should the need for actual self defense arise. In fact, it could make things worse. I never was licensed to teach martial arts or any forms of self defense. Again, he should hire professionals for that one- and it isn't going to be cheap.
Now, as far as getting pumped up at the gym, the reality is going to be brutal!
The odds of him pulling it off himself are near zero. He is going to have to hire a trainer.
The problem is virtually all of them at big box gyms aren't worth much more than minimum wage. The most that most of them are going to do is stand over someone with a clipboard and play with their phones. To truly get a good one expect to pay considerably more and have to search around in order to truly find a specialist like I used to be. There aren't many of them out there.
Then, assuming that he is old enough, he is going to be required to do some very extreme things- some of which I cannot put into print. One could use their imagination on what some of them are.
So, to truly do it, the cost realistically is going to be anywhere from $20-100K. For some specialty work it could go higher. A lot higher. An example is if someone wanted me to train them exclusively, be a live-in guru, chef... set up a chemistry lab... now that could go well into the 7 figures+
Does your friend have that kind of money- even $20K? If he doesn't- then it wouldn't even be worth starting the journey. If he tries to do it on his own he is going to fail miserably.
This may not have been what was expected. It IS the answer. Ignore everything else.
Have to agree with this.
If your friend wants to feel more confident in his body, it would be more healthy and infinitely less stupid if he just started working out.
Also, how exactly would bicep implants look when he gets older? I'm trying to picture it, and what my brain is coming up with is a grotesque, unnatural looking muscular old dude.
Got to say, if what my brain is picturing is in any way accurate, he should avoid that future at all cost, unless he wants to become a gross freak.
looking big is not going to deter anyone. fake stuff doesn't work in life. better to spend a fraction of the money on a boxing gym and sweat, and grow properly.
Anyway your friends a lefty if it feels good for him, doit.
Imagine that, but hanging from your arms.
Ick
Great, now I really need some brain bleach.
