It isn't just that the subject material and the camera work make it freaking terrifying. It's the incredible sense of dread you have after the movie is over.
You will be triple checking your doors and windows, have all the lights on in your house, sleep under the blankets for protection.
And not a single supernatural thing happens. I personally know that I'm not watching it a second time. Watch at your own risk I guess.
