WTF is going on in Chicago?
Businesses like Walmart are permanently leaving. Mass shootings every weekend. And downtown Chicago is now a lawless warzone, with kids getting blown away. WTF!

If I, I get to know your name
Well, if I could trace your private number, baby
All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
I want some, want some
I set my sights on you
(And no one else will do)
And I, I've got to have my way now, baby
All I know is that to me
You look like you're havin' fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
I (I, I, I), I got to be your friend now, baby
And I (I, I, I) would like to move in just a little bit closer
(To move in just a little bit closer)
All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
I want your love
I want your love
All I know is that to me
You look like you're lots of fun
Open up your lovin' arms
Watch out, here I come
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round (I want your love)
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round (I want your love)
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round (I need your love)
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round (I need your love)
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
Like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round (I need your love)
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

So now you've gone from saying that criminals aren't doing what they are doing and claiming it's over sensationalized or made up... to outright defending it and making excuses for them? So which is it? I've never seen a goal post as mobile as yours.
I said they aren't doing it as much as people claim (it's increased in proportion to what it was but that's not the same as being common) and places people think have better policies have higher rates of it. And if it's not about preventing it and you just think felons don't have an excuse to be felons so deserve harsh punishment on moral grounds then there are tons of examples of people committing felonies that I doubt you care if people go to jail for.

Felons don't commit felonies because they are victims of some system or circumstances. They do it because the vast majority couldn't care less about anyone but themselves. Some of these people would beat the crap out of you, or worse for what little amount of money you have in your wallet. This ain't Aladdin stealing a loaf of bread because he can continue to live, it's someone stealing a television because he wants one and they're doing it because people like you put people in charge of these cities who allow them to do it because you seriously bought into the "defund the police" bullcrap they were peddling.

So you do think every border community in Washington near the Oregon border should be jailed, got it.

Again, you deliberately misunderstand the term "defund the police" in order to put you on the moral high ground. I have no doubt in my mind that you know exactly what is meant when that phrase is used. But instead of addressing that, you throw out the phrase in order to muddy the waters.

How pathetically obvious of you.

Datahazard’s 2021 data set revealed some remarkable insights

The black-male offender homicide rate is 18.4 times higher than white-male offender homicide rate

Even black women are more likely than white men to kill someone

One in every 25 black men will kill at some point during his life. For white men the number would be about one in 425.

One in 25 versus one in 425. That’s a huge difference. When do you think you will see data like this on the evening news or in the New York Times? Or at a congressional hearing?
Never is the answer to that...

Not sure about you but I don't buy things from randos on the street so I'm unsure how they are going to make money from stuff they stole. And $900/month is barely enough to afford rent let alone electricity and other expences, and if things are going that badly for you being housed for free and getting free meals at taxpayer expence sounds like a pretty good deal (unless you actually want to pay back the taxpayers by being a productive member of society, then we are forced to just keep you there). And that's assuming there are no laws whatsoever rather then more lenient ones then other places that aren't as enforced as they could be due to crime escalating after recent events (which caused crime increases in multiple cities but if you are already used to it being high it won't make the news).

So now you've gone from saying that criminals aren't doing what they are doing and claiming it's over sensationalized or made up... to outright defending it and making excuses for them? So which is it? I've never seen a goal post as mobile as yours.

Agree... not to mention... there is videos of it... none of those kids looked "poor"...

And what about the REAL poor people afterwards?... like this poor woman.

Not sure about you but I don't buy things from randos on Steam Off Topic Forums... I listen to this poor woman telling the truth of it....

https://youtu.be/D-9aUza1BBU

I guess these people in ~THREE~ suvs are "poor" as well? They could only afford three suvs and had to try to steal a fourth?... poor, poor, carjackers. :steamfacepalm:

The US was so much nicer in the early to mid 90s when I was studying there. I don't remember anything really terrible happened during that time other than the federal building bombing in Oklahoma City. Now, it's like everything is falling apart, but of course rich people in the country are still doing well.

The murder rate increased almost 10x during the 90s, owing to the war on drugs perpetuating an economic bubble in the drug trade.

I think it is far more interesting to ask why this is happening. People are people, regardless of skin color. So why are black people more inclined to kill or attempt to kill another person?

Could it be due to the lack of opportunities available to them? Is it because of overt or covert racism? Maybe a percentage of black people have lost all hope and feel that if society has given up on them, why bother?

There could be several factors on why this is happening. Maybe we should explore those factors.

No it didn't. Homicide rate dropped significantly throughout the 90s. It only began to spike back up slowly in the early 2010s, and then rapidly since around 2020.

People don't want to talk about the real issues affecting society because far too many people don't want to listen. And if anyone brings up problems in the black communities, they are deemed racist, so things never get discussed and the problems in the black communities just get worst. Lucky we have many black people who are coming out and trying to talk about issues within the black communities but even these people are being labelled as going against their own or being toms or what ever other slang term is used.

The police are creating the crime in those areas. Bad policing = high crime rates.

There are many in this thread that don't understand how laws, and the justice system works.

We're locking this thread as it has devolved into non-productive argument. Thanks for your understanding.
