Just Spent $100 on a Japanese Action Figure
Do you think it's ridiculous to spend 100 dollars or a Japanese designed figure when you could buy $20-25 ones made by Americans?

Nope. Freedom is great. The option to choose.
First post is best post. Once your needs are taken care of, get whatever you want. Within reason, of course - don't spend yourself into debt and be sure to have a bit set aside for a rainy day.

Freedom is indeed great and capitalism is indeed amazing.

Just spent $100 on a T-shirt with my favorite band logo printed.
Do you think it's ridiculous to spend 100 USD on an American T-shirt when you could buy $10 ones made by the Chinese?

No as the Chinese one will be a counterfeit, and of poor quality.
I bought Chinese knock off once of a Transformers Masterpiece once. The arms were placed backwards so it couldn't transform, so even though I paid little dolor it was just a disappointment.
i got kotobukiya mecha thing at thrift store once but figurines arent my thing that much
I've got Warhammer stuff so I understand the cost. And I haven't even played in forever. I just enjoyed painting them. It's very relaxing.

I purchases are usually game and or movie related. And trust me $100 is just a drop in the bucket.

I mean if its a collection item, then no, there are people who have spent more then 100$ on what their collecting, especially card collectors or funkopops
I hope we get Zipp and Izzy Kotobukiyas.
just don't hotglue it :cryptosick:
It's only worth it if it's a cute anime girl.
I was originally going to say no, assuming that western action figures were much worse[www.hollywoodreporter.com] in terms of sculpt, but I'm not so sure now.

I mean, the Indiana Jones Figma is great 'n all[www.goodsmile.info] but western action figures seem to have come a rather long way in terms of sculpt and hiding the articulation if these newer Indiana Jones figurines by Hasbro are any indication.

Granted, Figma by good smile company tend to have have interchangable parts (hands and faces) and have a more articulate ball-joint system, often with additional accessories but I'm not so sure if all of that is worth the premium, unless maybe you plan to do something along the lines of Robot Chicken style stop-motion fan animations

Out of pure curiosity OP if its alright if I ask, who/what was the Japanese company that designed it for you? I ask because some people here can actually say if 100$ was to much, as much as I love collecting my fair share of things (I have a nack for stuffed animals of all kinds lol) there are some companies that just charge more for the sake of money when its realistically not needed, shipping and taxes aside that is.
$100 for a lump of plastic resembling a character is a bit excessive imo.

Still not as bad as some limited dolls that cost like $2000 each.

So it is this figurine.[www.toyark.com] Looks pretty cool for a Superman figurine if I do say so myself. Strikes a pretty interesting balance between realistic and cartoony that would make him not look too far out of place with either style of figurine.

Looks like Mafex is a line by Mediacom, which is a company pretty well known for making premium figurines.

To fulfill or not to fulfill the deed? That is the question.
