Favorite Seinfeld episode
The Pie for me. The scene where George tries to walk without swishing alone made it the stuff of legend, but this was in addition to a clever running gag in the form of the unexplained decline.

When you take part in a memetic demonstration of people's own unwillingness to find the truth you lose control over it and yourself.

Always was partial to "The Bottle Deposit" IDK if that's fair to count as it's a two parter.

It's a good episode. But this is a longstanding debate.

I think of them as a single episode.
So many.

Toothbrush in the toilet
Man hands
Jr mints
Frogger

I mean I do too and you have to consider both to even have a whole episode, but they were aired separately in time before "special uninterrupted broadcasts".

The Frogger episode...

Yes, I am guilty of that, often I do it intentionally as to hog the entire sauce container to myself. :poppo:

I didn't even have to look at the clip before I started yelling "you double dipped the chip!"

That is a big part of the charm though.

I guess it could be interpreted as iteration on a theme though. More of a sequel than a two-parter.
I only saw about 5 of them so I guess the first one.

The first one you saw or the pilot episode? Cause empirically speaking the pilot episode is one of the least Seinfeld-esque and worst episodes

Completely forgot Peurto Rican Day Parade, if you don't know what I'm talking about, I feel bad for you.

The first one I saw was the one where Jerry gets with George's Ex, I'm picking that one.
the one where they decide on where to eat lunch while drinking coffee.

I can't stand Seinfeld.

I studied comedy for many many years. I watched every type of comedian I could. I listened to interviews with comedians talking about their craft. I have watched a ton of documentaries on comedy, laughter, and what is funny to people.

The one kind of comedian that I just can't stand is the whiny complaining comedians. The likes of Seinfeld and Woody Allen. I just don't find that brand of humor funny in the slightest.

I also do not like comedians that have no respect for their audience and fans. Andy Kaufman is a great example of a comedian who generally had zero respect for his fan base. I understand Zach Galifianakis and his views on his fan base. The guy doesn't want to be harassed by people. He finds it rude when people come up to him while he is eating or with his family. I can respect that. But Andy took it to a whole new level. He really didn't give a crap about his fan base and he showed it as often as he could.

My two cents
:launchpad:

Dislike of the man personally is what drives the show, despite being extraneous to the comedy. Gotta spin the water wheel somehow, and the nature of the comedy business environment tends to favor self-interest.

He wrote very little of it, apparently only really being involved creatively in the pilot.

So if I imagine him as a kind of cardboard cutout who's been plastered in to make this show happen I don't really mind it. The Jerry character is what is real, and as far as I'm concerned Seinfeld himself doesn't even have to exist.

But, again, entertainment is driven by ego. Not for any salient reason, besides robogod ofc, the business just developed that way.

Its not the basis for the show, Seinfeld and his comedy are just a character within the show where much of the time he plays the straight man, almost self parody.

comedy for the dead pan snark generation, but it has aged better than the others.
