As a person of Scottish descent, he sounds totally Scottish. He is such a mean bastard. Caring, but mean, and I wouldn't even know of him if my wife wasn't obsessed with his cooking shows. she's quite the Latina firecracker herself, and we both enjoy a good fight. Ramsay just lost the accent.

It's just an act for television. Same as Simon Cowell insulting people on American Idol. British people insulting others became trendy in the early 2000's.

His family moved to England when he was 9, over the years his accent became more English plus he's trained in France post apprenticeship and speaks fluent French. I think the cut off as it were for kids to keep their native accents is around 12-14 years old.
