Games and TV / Movies have over saturated the use of the sword as a use all for everybody.
Game o Thrones as much as I like it = too many swords.
i wouldnt waste swordman on spear man fight, its a waste of man

Assuming equal strength and no body armor, I'd rather have a shield than a two-handed stick.

RPGs are the real issue. They don't control like real life. They control like a toddler trying to hold onto a fire truck hose putting out a house fire.
