there is probably some kind of main quest but i've not even found it yet
I haven't played GW2 but this perfectly describes turn-based JRPGs
So speaking of which, WOW vanilla. Give it a try if you haven't. I mainly played by levelling multiple classes on both factions. Levelling is quite easy (difficulty wise) but not brain dead easy like in modern MMOs. Do try the Turtle server. Best one I ever saw. Can play together if you want to.
Not online, but Vampire Survivors feels like that kind of chill game. Just move around and avoid enemies. A LOT of stuff to unlock.
Tetris Effect Connected. It has REALLY good music already put into the game. When you zone out and the tunes play in rhythm with what you are doing it feels awesome. You got endless levelling with XP that doesn't really do anything.
Northern Journey. It has moments of intense fighting. Didn't find them that difficult. But the focus is on exploration and the vibe. Very good in game music as well. Nothing to unlock.
I have stopped myself playing this game it is very addictive.
If you want something with a little more depth then Port Royale 3.
Trade and build up colonies in the Carribean or just be a small time trader or go into major overdrive and build up war fleets, conquer colonies and beat up pirates.
It is all ship based, you can fight battles or have them automatically done. Some people dislike it but many like it and see it as the best Port Royale there is.
If you really wanted to you could just have one ship and play a simple game or do bit of everything or build a great colonial empire.
