Also, wtf is this website?
Like its well known that site can't do news reports worth a damn, seriously ya their doing localization which literally has zero connections to being woke, thats literally what you do to make a game run on different computers due to language codexes on them, you LOCALIZE them and MOST United States computers do not have Japanese localization, as a matter of fact if you try to play a non-localized game, you'll likely find it displaying a box with a blue void and just a ton of ??? all over its errors.
The issues is localization vs translation. People play Japanese games because they want that Japanese flavor, not a knock off, dime store western game. This is why DmC was such a flop, for example. They tried to make it into a low quality western game knock off. That is not what fans of the Devil May Cry series ever wanted, and that was reflected in sales.
The company quickly learned their lesson, hence DMC5, but here is Capcom back to making the same mistakes all over again.
People want the author's original intent, not some no name "localizer's soap boxing."
It's their anti-modding stance that's worrying.
That insulting black-haired bastard stepchild DOES NOT EXIST.
And the fact that they have paid for a Russian Made DRM solution despite international sanctions of which Japan is participating in.
Side note: Yes I read the report; thats what localization in a pure form, as they noted "cultural nuances, idioms, and regional flair." which can be perfectly explained by asking if anyone knows what a yakuta is; they likely don't if they do not understand Japanese culture that well, its a Summer-themed Kimono, how many people do you think will however know that and be left wondering in the dark about half the things that are said to them? Plenty.
Unlike what Capcom fans love to typically cry about; the world does not revolve around them; and hundreds of people do not understand Japanese culture so Capcom localizaing it, AKA giving details to what something is actually worth its weight in bloody gold
Thats not remotely woke, hell the fact I still do not know what some Japanese culture things are but now have Capcom giving support and information to them is a massive bonus to them just giving information; something more games should do frankly but this has literally nothing to do with woke.
The reason it was rejected was because it was a Japanese company's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ take at making a western game, despite the DMC series already being fairly popular in the west. People watching anime and playing Japanese games do NOT want them to be more like their western counter parts.
If they wanted to watch something more like Spongebob, then they would just watch Spongebob instead of some Japanese half-approximation of Spongebob.
I care. Some of my favorite game series have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ permanently cancelled because of it. It is the whole reason that I bought a Steam Deck instead of a PS5, and why I switch from being a primarily Playstation gamer to PC and Nintendo only.
I just searched for a site covering the news. Mainstream "news" sites will only cover it after it kicks up enough fervor on its own. They don't track down breaking news on their own anymore.
It also tries to overwrite established canon. The same reason the Disney bastards need to die for their heretical bad Star Wars fanfiction. The Yuuzhan Vong should drop a moon on Anaheim.
