Have you ever had a computer virus?
I had one a long time ago that turns all your files into .vbs scripts. I was actually burning a cd when I realized I had this virus from one of the files on that cd. I still have the cd, if you put it in a windows computer and open the file it will start turning all your files to useless scripts. lol. It's the only time I ever had a virus and I was begging for it. Anyone ever get any crazy computer viruses?

Our PC was notorious for getting them during music installing phases
from websites 2007 or earlier etc.
Back when MySpace was still relevant. Lol.
Back in the limewire days, yeah.

Ive been installing programs into a virtual environment since like 2010? though.
war thunder gave me one once
My brother once decided to download Roblox exploits off some shoddy YouTuber back in 2018, he ended up getting redirected to weird Russian anime sites

it was fairly common before adblockers/noscripts/javablockers etc
A skeezy game crack that Malwarebytes flagged, but Avast did not.

I was planning on reformatting and doing a clean reinstall on that laptop anyway, so I tried running it.

I remember when Apple/linux would brag about not having viruses.

Because all the malaware makers targeted windows.
If you do not know what you should do. You should label the CD and write on the CD that there is a virus on it.

Yes, but it's been a really really long time.
It's hard to get viruses nowadays because we don't have Norton and McAfee dominating the market and releasing viruses to push people into using their services.

I think the last virus I had was some nasty ransomware, where the "government" locked my computer and was demanding moneypak gift cards lol
Windows XP was beloved yet what hell of a Virus Magnet. I've killed multiple home work pcs my mom had back then until she finally got her own laptop. But I haven't had any viruses in a long time cause I know better and anything I miss Windows had patched or my virus protection would kick in.
Yes.. it was a dark dark evening.. we called it.. new years even 1999.... after that my computer went total wonkers and tried to take over the world.
About 20 years ago when I still had 56k dial up yes.
I stupidly downloaded a jpeg file from a direct messaging chat board that ended in .exe (filename.jpg.exe) and once I opened it Norton antivirus went mental and kept popping up with virus detected alerts but couldn't clean or remove it.
Anyway after a couple hours research I found out I needed the tool itself to remove it so downloaded prorat1.8 from their website and simply clicked the button that said " remove server" and bingo problem solved.. from that day since I stopped using Norton.

I don't know for sure, but when I studied at the university my laptop was slowing down a lot. Eventually I just got tired of it and reinstalled windows and deciided NOT to install whatever crap I found online. Turns out my laptop didn't slow down the same way after that. Don't think it slowed down much at all, even as years passed. It's very possible I had a virus of some kind, because I had no sense of internet safety back then.

Every single steam user on earth has computer viruses.

Sorry if you thought you were using a virus free computer, you aren't.

You're welcome friends :KneelingBow:
