Ive been installing programs into a virtual environment since like 2010? though.
I was planning on reformatting and doing a clean reinstall on that laptop anyway, so I tried running it.
Because all the malaware makers targeted windows.
It's hard to get viruses nowadays because we don't have Norton and McAfee dominating the market and releasing viruses to push people into using their services.
I think the last virus I had was some nasty ransomware, where the "government" locked my computer and was demanding moneypak gift cards lol
I stupidly downloaded a jpeg file from a direct messaging chat board that ended in .exe (filename.jpg.exe) and once I opened it Norton antivirus went mental and kept popping up with virus detected alerts but couldn't clean or remove it.
Anyway after a couple hours research I found out I needed the tool itself to remove it so downloaded prorat1.8 from their website and simply clicked the button that said " remove server" and bingo problem solved.. from that day since I stopped using Norton.
Sorry if you thought you were using a virus free computer, you aren't.
You're welcome friends
