yeah when people voted for johnny bravo the network head flipped out and demanded they make it bad.

the gorilla episode was easily the best pilot out of anything shown at the time. ppg relied a lot on the post-pilot reworks and dexter had a terrible pilot.

But I for sure remember powerpuffs and courage before they were real shows. The original courge promo was dark, like really dark and messed up.

courage and dexter got a lot of the staff that worked on the johnny bravo teaser.

ppg was already approved and they made the teaser with auxiliary staff, mostly the same people that worked on dexter.

all the people that made the other pilots got dumped into johnny bravo, mostly because they'd animate anything without complaining.

I think courage wound up with a best-of staff for a while, until the network head was concerned and confused that johnny bravo wasn't popular and tried to pull everyone off of everything to make it work.

then they made the oval office episode, and the network head canned it.

supposedly the same key animators worked on all the teasers, and also on happy tree friends. most of the network head's scripts, which they'd constantly pitch to the writers for everything else, come off as htf knockoff episodes.

network head banned the structure and story elements from dexter to try and homogenize it with the rest of the lot they'd poisoned.

they didn't like cow and chicken because of the pork butts, and canned it based purely on that. supposedly the head had a pork butt themself.
