Why is pride month such a big thing
Like I'm not trying to be homophobic or anything, just genuinely curious on why it's such a big thing, like why we can't just be gay or lesbian or other things quietly? Like I don't think it should be anyone's business about what we do behind the closed doors.

Because for centuries people have been cast out of society/family, hurt, killed, harassed, just for something about them they can't change (sexual orientation or gender identity)

And finally we are in an era where acceptance is becoming widespread allowing people to be express themselves and be proud instead of too scared to show it
Because there are still plenty of places in the world where you can get physically and psychologically harmed for this and even thrown into prison or killed.

But why do we need a whole month for it, why it can't just be a week or a day.
right wingers started to feel so offended that it surged through all of social media which resulted in counters from the other side and now everyone knows about it

Corporates trying to rake in money by using contentious topics.
Nobody is forcing you to even acknowledge the event. Catholics have how many Saint's Days? I am not a catholic, therefore it does not matter to me. I am not gay, therefore pride events don't matter to me.

People need to learn to just mind their own.

Too hard. Must get offended over trivial things.

odd that they dont have parades in those places rather than in places its already legal

Would you volunteer to get stoned like some lesbian girl in Iran or be sent to prison camp in Siberia?
It isn't a big thing and quickly disappears when corporate/DNC money isn't available.
because it saves lives. Without it the LGBT people feel alone with no community in a world that until now saw their existence as sinful

Because they have been victims of discrimination and prejudice, and a day is not nearly enough time to acknowledge all the injustice that has been done to them.

Same reason we have Black History month, Womens History Month and Jewish History Month.

It's not about what they do, but who they are, and what they have gone through in the past.

Would you tell women to be silent?
Would you tell Black people or Jewish people to be silent?

We dedicate a month to recognize all the suffering they have gone through, the discrimination and prejudice they have faced. I don't think it's fair to ask them to be quiet about it.

They should be able to be proud of all the achievements and accomplishments towards recognizing them as equal people with equal rights deserving of respect from all.

Wow, when the conditioning takes over.
