Political direction on this forum.
Why does it seem like most commenters here lean politically left-wing and liberal rather than towards conservative or centrist views? Many comments and positions reflect a reliance on mainstream and state media, and tend to align with leftist ideologies that often emphasize authoritarian measures over individual freedom and liberty. Is there a particular reason why a significant number of gamers today identify more with left-wing and liberal perspectives rather than more balanced, logical, and rational political paths like centrism, conservatism, or the right-wing?

Left-wing and progressive posts aren't as moderated as heavily as right-wing and conservative posts.

The root cause is likely the educational institutions that tech workers must pass through to get the degree required for the job.

In part, because they are relatively young. As they say, a liberal is just a young conservative. Generally speaking, liberals are just very naive and most of them tend to change course over time. The userbase of Twitter is much older, and indeed it is also more right-leaning.
A lot of young Gen Z men are turning more towards conservatism though because of Andrew Tate, the manosphere, modern feminism, and the toxic culture of modern dating.

Yes, but slowly.
Why are all these straw Scotsmen always moving the goalposts?

Politics is very confusing to me. And just because something works in 1 country doesn’t mean it will work on another.

Japan has very strict gun laws and very low crime rate. It’s not the guns; it’s society and culture. Even if you do make guns legal I believe the crime rate would still remain low because of Japanese Culture. (Edit: Fun fact but even the Yakuza don’t carry guns. Even if they do they rarely use it)

Same goes with America. For argument sake let’s say we get rid of guns and make it illegal. Crime will still happen anyways and you’ll just handicap the population from protecting themselves.

Wal-mart tried to open stores in Japan, but they failed. One of the contributing factors was their "Employee of the Month" program. In Japan, teamwork is paramount. Singling someone out for accolades is actually embarrassing. But Wal-mart refused to change their policies.

They were also kicked out of Germany for privacy violations caused by cameras over the cashiers and they failed in Mexico because they built huge, empty parking lots that shoppers had to hike across from the bus stop on the road.

Wal-mart is the epitome of a globalist company.

Edited for better formatting on the table.

One might venture to posit that the age of the average Steam user could have a substantial bearing on the political proclivities that manifest here.

Moreover, the cultural mores and etiquette observed by individuals residing beyond the confines of the United States (myself included) would customarily preclude them from engaging in political discourse on a multinational GAMING platform, out of a sense of decorum and propriety befitting such a GLOBAL gathering of enthusiasts.

Do we follow the same forums?

Liberals tend to be outnumbered on these forums. They're attacked more for their views than those who spread conspiracy theories without any evidence. It's not unusual to see 10+ people in a thread defending convicted criminal Donald Trump, engaging in climate change denialism or thinking that vaccines are dangerous. Whereas usually there are one or max few liberals.

The support for vaccines among dems tends to be 95%, whereas with Republicans only around half. There were studies conducted during the COVID crisis. The gap is massive.

Why are Europeans so invested in what Americans think about a presidential candidate they can actually vote for while you can't?

It was American court system that concluded Donald Trump is a criminal, not European one.

Far-right has a habit of supporting crimes and criminals if it supports their objectives, whether it's in Europe or North America.

But I know few dual citizens who will. They don't even live in the US. Crazy, right?
