Adjusting for inflation, Telecasters seem like a fantastic deal today compared to the 1950s. Some Les Pauls on that list seem like they have tracked inflation exactly.

You can get a good Ibanez for around 500 USD or spend a little more for LTD. Fender and Gibson are the opposite of quality and value.

In general expensive guitars (among other things) are made of very expensive woods and in some cases that has affected 2 things. Those guitars are now 'more' expensive and the use of cheaper (less rare) woods are now in play and prices haven't come down.

I would also like to know OP what you consider expensive and what is not. It's so relevant to your question.

Evertune bridge. You can set the amount note bend with it basically too. Expensive part but is on ESP LTD.

supply and demand, good quality stuff is guaranteed to be at a higher price, there's a bunch of good kramers at lower prices though, and if you wanna, you can evh it and make your own frankenstrat-ish beast for under 600
