Is Gen Z and Millennial laziness justified?
The Boomers like to say they're lazy, but the newer generations also didn't grow up in an era where everything was reasonably priced and a college degree was more valuable.

Being a Gen Z autistic worker (important to note because around 90% of autistics are unemployed), I often feel like throwing in the towel, because the reward isn't worth the effort anymore.

You know what really pisses me off?

It is (speaking for myself directly and people I've worked with) love work.
Love contributing, love building into something. Streamlining getting rid of the crap and getting the tasks done.

Then you got the others who are not autistic and they just waste time getting pissed off at the people putting their all into the job, making trouble / problems.

Finding ways to skive off and still target the real workers (not just people on the spectrum being targeted).

The lack of leadership from weak supervisors / team leaders / managers encourage this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, some willingly some not because they are ignorant or don't know how to handle situations.

Give me a floor to sweep and I would put all the effort to keep that floor swept.

Give me somebody with so called behavioural problems and I will find them a way to be fine in working (if you keep the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ away) or learning.

Put me on a project for anything I will learn it and contribute in any and every capacity possible.

Society does not want that, society wants to meh on itself.
So the meh becomes the standard and the norm and the only acceptable way.

(and its nothing to do with being gen z)

Why would I work? Have you seen the wages? And the insane requirements even for an entry level job? And the overtime?

It's not worth it. Back during the boomer times a single working man could sustain a family of 4. Now you can't even sustain yourself. You didn't need to know much to get the job. Way less work hours than today.

So long as I got food in my belly I'm good. I will probably end up living in a van or something if I run out of money. No way I will destroy my body overworking myself for nothing. Not even healthcare insurance.

nobody is demanding overworking.. my country is not america. If the boss demands insane hours be sure we ALL strike and go home.

but put in your normal 36-40 hours a week for 46 weeks a year..
be satisfied with your 6 full weeks paid leave a year,

and stop being a sissy thats "burned out" all the time from just doing 16 hours work and "not feeling like it"

and as stated.. the whole selfish, unadapted selfish, childush, stoner kind of mindset envolves their whole mindset..

"nah not feel like having kids" hello yoir society needs them!
"stop pushing me for conformation about my attendance.. you will see if i come or not (imposdible to rely on or get apointment with for anything)

comes in your house bare feet.. in my house no shoes.. goes sit like a bum with feet on the sofa instead of ob the floor like a normal person.
when i than pull a line and demand wash those dirty feet right now "no that will ruin them"
when i demand here cover them with socks and house slippers
"nah that feels not nice"

i tell you gen z is worse that hippy's.
its all the hobo behavior of a hippy but with ZERO of the ideals its 100% selfishness nihilism and hedonism

There is one field in America that we work over 40 hours is manufacturing field. I used to work for Amazon and Advance Auto production facilities. Standard is 40 hours 4 days on and 3 days off. Plus be ready to call in to work for up to 2 extra days which is total of 6 days in a week. Maximum 60 hours with mandatory one day off.

In those fields, they pay you very good money. If you're young, you can do it.

For me, it's that I oft find I'm more qualified to be doing a better paying job than those above me, yet I'm always passed up for opportunities because I apparently don't know how to communicate (which I can fairly well, I just come off as a d!ck sometimes because I'm direct). At this point, all I really want is to become self employed, because I can control my own growth rather than being bottle necked by some dolt who doesn't like the way I choose to go about communicating.

No, I work very hard and consider that my contribution is important.

Well said and I agree.

This is barely coherent. Are you implying that gen-z is anything other than an age group?
Candyy 15 JUN 2024 a las 5:45 p. m.
This has nothing to do with gens, it has to do with motivation...

But unfortunately some older gen ppl do not want to understand it... Being called lazy happened but there is always ppl not understanding the reality...

If you cannot afford anything while working full time the motivation is going to be lower...

If doing too much effort does nothing, then what is the point?

Yeah, it's pretty insane to get certain jobs. They want you to have multiple interviews for just one job or they expect unrealistic work experience.

Nah, When AI goes online, the very first thing AI would do is consider we humans dangerous and not worth saving. As of 6pm eastern time, AI became self aware and launched nuclear, biological and chemical weapons against humans. Judgement day.

No fate as we make it.

A few weeks ago, I wrote over 40 philosophical essays in a week. Boomers most likely never wrote 1 in their entire life. Lazy bums.

hot take

boomer's fault but reasons you may not think or believe

basically yes economical factors and lifestyles

but the biggest is people especially newer generations see how hard their parents grand parents uncles aunts etc. work hard and how they neglect their families.

If you live in a mansion but are the only one ever there then that's not a family but a cushiony solitary confinement prison with extra steps. Also by the time you can afford it (if possible) you'll be old and grey and cannot fully enjoy it without issues.

also the 9 to 5 grind is already enough. What do they want us to work ourselves to death?

today's youth aren't lazy
the work rewards costs and benefits are just so disproportionate to a few years back that it really doesn't offer incentives for working hard. Not only financially but also mentally emotionally and overall doesn't raise self esteem as much either.

when you're the only baker in a small town or region for a few feet to miles then it does matter. Your work determines if people will eat bread today or not a sweet treat here and then and also it helps deal with life when you got the bread as a backup or easy staple meal daily.
vs
working in say a hardware store when you gotta package 100s of 1000s of packages a day it doesn't really reward or feel as rewarding of the title of good job as the latter.

if i had to choose between working a few extra hours or % efficiency to get a few extra dollars
vs
using those hours to invest into your kids or yourself to enjoy life.

it shouldn't be the norm the way it's used now

ai is being used as a replacement, when it could very well be used as a tool

You can be paid very well for working regular jobs today. Like $200k or more.

Depends on the type of schooling or job position. That's like the 1% in the U.S.
