When that alternate point of view is usually straight up lies mixed with crazy conspiracy theories and their favorite tactic is drowning everything even remotely reasonable or sane under so much ridiculous garbage that reasonable people just have enough and leave, leaving spreaders of that crap unopposed and free to do so.

Yep, pretty good summary. Pretty sure we are headed straight into WW3. Thankfully I don`t have anyone left to care about much and I´m on my way out anyway so when it comes then it comes.
Sucks for the world though that people have to go through all this again and I´m pretty sure if there are anyone left hundred years from now they will go through this again since they have all forgotten what happened last time, just like people now.

Yeah, people don't pay attention to the chess board enough. Like it or not, the US is involved in a lot of global standoffs - a lot of which we have no business in imho. The logic just follows that our military might is an active deterrent, or at least a major factor in the calculus, across the world. If we succumb to a civil war, as many of us fear, a lot of those conflicts will go hot. Aggressor states will take advantage, as will states that see the US influence as unjustified and temporarily unavailable.

It is in the strategic best interest of most of the non-NATO powers for that civil war to occur. What one cannot accomplish with diplomacy or arms, one can accomplish with propaganda and espionage.
