OP there should be a less dystopian and more humane solution to that kind of problem, for example AI survelliance tech (still very dystopian), might seem more efficient at that task. Still the whole situation is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up as a whole :lunar2019deadpanpig:

I don't know about dogs but I do think when people get to a certain age they should all have those gadgets that when they fall alerts someone and they get in contact to see if they are ok.

If no response then they send people to assist.

There was a guy who died alone and nobody knew for two or three weeks.
Every weekend at the pub same table just soaking in the atmosphere having some drinks to himself he didn't show up I assumed he was doing something else then it turned out he had died and nobody knew.
I think there was a woman in the UK that died and nobody realised for years.
Why not.
In 2021 they found a man that had been laying dead in his apartment in Oslo for 9 years.
My sister works for the post office, it is one of her unofficial jobs to check if some of her older people on her route are still there if the mail hasn't been picked up for a while. She has to call the cops for a wellness check, about once a year they finds someone dead.

They who? You mean the government? Hmm I'm not sure if that's how you want your taxes used.

Really? The whole floor must have been empty because corpses decompose and smell pretty bad.
imagine the resources needed for some like that. Have resources to get and raise the dog, have resources/man power to train the dog. then resources to have a handler and feeding/housing the dog just to go round to house to sniff the doors once in a while to make sure nobodies dead, can imagine the false positives, especially if someone recently died and already been removed from property or even dead animal. or for single people or more in the lines of elderly people, have someone do a friendly check up once in a while (like once every week or second week)

As someone who could K/O at any minute let me think about that level of spying: No.

I'm not sorry if my corpse inconveniences you. :steammocking:
Aye fair point, the issue would be once there's tens of thousands of old people dying alone in their home, and no one noticing for weeks, months or even years. Since there's going to be far more older people than younger people due the decline in birthrate, the problem might get even more common in the following decades.

Still it's a grim subject that's not in the overton window, so technically not a critical problem for the time being.

Health monitoring bracelets would be way more effective. These devices might even call for rescue services in case of need and give you a fighting chance.
With the rise of (anti) social media and the video game only generation this sort of thing is not far fetched.
are you high?
