Smoke came out of console

Has this ever happened to you? My Xbox started overheating when I was playing a game. I powered it off and blew the dust out. I plugged it back in but smoke started coming out of the back vent. I unplugged it.

Get it to someone who can open it up and check it out. by someone i mean not your friend i mean a professional.

If its 'just' an obstruction thing that didnt blow out then all well and good they can clear it out but if its a hardware thing yikes, they will know what to do.

Maybe you blew dust on some important components, that’s why it may be overheating.

Anyway, I would open it and clean it properly.

If you open it, you will probably void the warranty (if you have any). I would RMA it if it is still in warranty.

It's 6 years old and out of warranty. I might have to get a professional to look at it.

Im no expert but ive heard somewhere that older machine's that get very hot migth catch fire start smoking if enough dust gets in the worng place.
Thats why I vacuum the inside of my pc evry now and then.

Its an old myth. You have the right to service your stuff. Those warranty stickers dont mean squat. If a company gives you problems about this, make a complaint. 100% win rate.

Happened to me with an old console however we were playing on it non-stop that it overheated. I just took it outside until the smoke stopped but dumped it and bought a new one.
