ublock origin has 8,379,407 users
You can use Ublock Origin's big brother, UMatrix if you want more in-depth script controls alongside the adblocking.
Apparently NoScript might be slightly better at XSS protection, though, based on the results I get when I check for comparisons of "NoScript or uMatrix". NoScript also forces HTTPS connections, apparently, whereas uMatrix supposedly doesn't have that feature.
One of the reddit responses in the results, by "NAN001" says :
...of course, the same person in that same reddit post says that they don't use NoScript because "the web is unusable without Javascript", which is untrue - only poorly designed websites require Javascript to have even partial functionality, plus NoScript lets you pick and choose which scripts you allow, so you get to do blocking without blocking literally everything out.
(uBlock, & uMatrix do this too but target different concerns, it seems.)
