why would/should you trust us if you are paranoid?

remember

just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean you are wrong :spaz2insane:
Yeah but my paranoia gets a bit much at times and more often than not I tend to be wrong

I'll put it to you this way. It's safer than allowing ads. Just make sure you get uBlock origin and not any of the imitations.
I will! Thank you for the info and the concern!
mozilla firefox + adblock, what a perfect journey, ads are more dangerous than your paranoid
ublock origin has 8,379,407 users

I've been using it for years. I have never had an issue. I suppose it is possible for it to be a security concern, but I myself have had no issues at all.

If you're looking for online safety, I'd recommend getting NoScript first, though,

You can use Ublock Origin's big brother, UMatrix if you want more in-depth script controls alongside the adblocking.

Thanks. I didn't know about that. I'll have to look into it more later; already did some just now.

Apparently NoScript might be slightly better at XSS protection, though, based on the results I get when I check for comparisons of "NoScript or uMatrix". NoScript also forces HTTPS connections, apparently, whereas uMatrix supposedly doesn't have that feature.

One of the reddit responses in the results, by "NAN001" says :
" Their common ground is that many third-party HTTP requests are performed via JavaScript, so those will be blocked by any of NoScript and uMatrix.

However, there're still plenty of requests made outside JS that won't be blocked by NS but will be by uM. There're also some malicious scripts that won't be blocked by uM (it doesn't care about JS) but will be by NS (it's its job)."
...of course, the same person in that same reddit post says that they don't use NoScript because "the web is unusable without Javascript", which is untrue - only poorly designed websites require Javascript to have even partial functionality, plus NoScript lets you pick and choose which scripts you allow, so you get to do blocking without blocking literally everything out.
(uBlock, & uMatrix do this too but target different concerns, it seems.)
