In order to get the most out of the PRO you need a 120hz VRR TV this is because the CPU is the weak part, however for the most part even in heavily CPU demanding games such Dragons Dogma 2, Phantom Liberty, BG3 the PS5 Pro performance is great and the FPS while dropping below 60 FPS here and there stays within the VRR Range (48 FPS) and you can't notice the frametimes variations (hitching/stuttering) like you would on a non VRR display.
Even tho the CPU is based on the Zen2 Architecture and clocks are sub 4ghz because of the custom SOC Architecture it performs similar to a zen3 (5700x/5800x @ near 5ghz) for example the CPU uses GDDR instead of DDR memory which improves bandwidth and latency considerably, Data can be loaded directly into the rendering pipeline from the SSD without having to load it into RAM 1st. Hardware compression/decompression frees 1 or 2 CPU cores for other tasks such as generating more FPS. this custom architecture is mainly the reason you don't see shader compilation & traversal stutter like you do on PC.
Games that don't have PS5 Pro patch look and play better than PS5 because the dynamic resolution doesn't drop low to make the game look blurry, for example the resident evil remakes with ray tracing now play at locked 60 FPS with ray tracing at a higher internal resolution.
games with PS5 Pro patch that support PSSR look amazing (better than 1440p DLSS quality) and more like (4K DLSS Balanced) and if the game has unlocked FPS mode they play at 80-120 FPS. PSSR is constantly getting updated and the quality of upscaling is increasing.
Developers are starting to use Frame generation alongside PSSR which will further improve the visual smoothness of games on VRR TVs with unlocked framerate (120 FPS)
To me the difference between PS5 and Pro is big, In fact the FPS and visual clarity is so good that I barely use my high end PC for gaming anymore because you can't really tell the difference between PS5 PRO and PC very high settings (besides path tracing) and the 60 FPS feels incredibly smooth due to the consistent frame pacing and the fact that you use a controller and don't notice the input lag like you would with mouse input at 60 FPS.
in the End PS5 Pro has all the tech that is present in modern PC GPU, AI upscaling with dedicated hardware, Ray Tracing that doesn't drag the FPS down below 60, Frame generation, VRR.
best part about playing on PS5 Pro is the ease of use, and not having to deal with anything windows related, drivers, settings, control setups, custom scripts to fix the hard coded controls etc. you simply play the games and enjoy.
IMO the PS5 PRO is worth the $700 for the superb gaming experience it provides, it's an excellent Gaming Machine that rivals high end PC graphics at acceptable framerates.
PC is not rendering all these new games in native 4K without the help of upscaling and frame generation. the visual differences between PC and Pro is small (unless path tracing is involved, but you're not playing with path tracing if you don't have a $1500-$2000 GPU, and the FPS difference past 60 FPS doesn't really matter on VRR TV and controller.
PlayStation 5 has no games.
Even Nintendo called them out on it.
No, Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) will not be exclusive to PlayStation. Rockstar Games has confirmed that the game will be released simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC
GTA 6 is not a sony exclusive what are you talking about? Sony has no exclusive games worth playing that don't come to PC.
Name one exclusive sony only game worth buying a 700 dollar system.
It was a factual statement, don't take it personal son. If PS5 had any games worth playing I would own one, simple as.
Released simultaneously on PS and Xbox, sadly. PC should take at least 1 year more, as it's usually the case with Rockstar.
PC chads just skipping early access GTA 6 and getting full blown 1.0 after consoles beta test it. Thats the power of PC!
Rockstar said GTA 6 is going to be PS5 timed exclusive, so applying the "there are no games" logic it means it's a PS5 game and not able to be played on PC.
Some of the best games on PC are ports of Sony 1st party games, are you mad that a $700 console can play the same games available on PC at a similar quality as a $2000) PC?
Doesn't matter fact is PS5 pro provides high end PC gaming experience, you know how I know? because I have a RTX 4090 PC, a PS5 OG, and PS5 Pro. and have almost exclusively switched to playing on PS5 PRO because the difference between PC & PRO gaming experience is so small that the ease of use is well worth it.
You have outdated information. GTA 6 is not sony exclusive you can just google it. They changed their minds.
Doesn't the PS5 have forums? Or is that just cool PC platforms? You could always find other console enjoyers there right?
Not to mention you can just build a 700 dollar base computer and upgrade it as you go into a super computer. You can't upgrade anything except add a SSD to the PS5 and even that probably voids your warranty
Now if Sony re-released PS2, that had games. I would buy that instantly.
Well I have 2 monitors and a TV set up to my PC, can you do that with PS5?
Can you do multiple tasks on a PS5?
Can you play multiple games at once on a PS5?
Can you even game at 144 fps on a ps5? Or do you need that sweet 2000 dollar TV to even do that?
I just think the PS2 library was one of the best, it had so many zany and unique games. So did the Wii, all those games are going to basically be lost to time. I have a lot of them in my closet but the systems are all dead. So I can't enjoy them. That's why I just PC game now. Console gaming is insanely expensive compared to PC and PC is just frankly the best platform.
I have 5200 games on steam theres no way you can amass a collection like that on a playstation or any console. They swap gens and all of those games are lost to you if they don't bring them over to the new console. It's such a money pit.
why do I need to play 2 games at the same time I only have 2 hands.
not 144 Hz, but there are plenty of games I can play at 120hz such as the call of duty games, and many that hit between 80-120 FPS.
for anything else I can use a PC, I mainly use a 240hz 4K OLED for regular gaming or BSB HMD for VR and Geo 3D gaming. I also use a 3x120HZ OLED TVs hooked up to my simcube racing rig. mostly niche stuff.
I don't need more than 60 FPS with a controller on TV to have similar fluidity as playing at 120+ FPS with mouse and keyboard. on top of that the graphics quality rivals PC at a fraction of the cost.
You go on and on about upgrading, listen I have been buiding a new PC every 2-3 years for the last 25 years which always included 1 or 2 top end video cards. I know all about upgrading. every say 4 years you need to completely upgrade the socket, ram and storage due to the constant advancements. You're funny that you think you can upgrade a $700 computer into a super computer. I assume you're talking about a workstation, but why would you want to upgrade a $700 turd into a workstation when it would mean you would have to get all new parts. I actually use a workstation for work, and the type of Parts going into these systems are completely different than your average gaming PC's, and they're way more expensive than mainstream parts. typically just the GPU is around 6-$7000.
Then when they swap gens and your console dies and they dont make any more consoles bye bye game library.
You could just buy a ps5 controller and use it on PC its the same thing as playing on a playstation except you know PC has games.
This was a great laugh I thank you.
You could just buy a controller, but haptics only works wired on PC. besides using a controller on PC is not the point. the point is using a PS5 Pro for gaming is a lot simpler and hassle free compared to PC, and the graphics are just as good as high end PC, and probably better than your PC since you sound like you have an entry level maybe a mid PC.
If 1000's of games means no games, then yea I guess it has no games.
great laugh because you think a gaming rtx 5090 is as expensive as a GPU gets? a 5090 is peanuts compared to a real professinal workstation GPU such as this one: https://www.newegg.com/pny-vcnrtx6000ada-pb/p/N82E16814133886
