Fedoras are cool. Being a gamma neckbeard secret king is uncool. You can change the reputation of fedoras by being a good man instead.
Oh, I didn't stop wearing it for that reason though. I mostly use my hats now as a prop in my dancing. They've seen the end of my shoes and different asphalts so much that wearing these particular hats wouldn't be sanitary anymore either. That said, I do have clean ones that I don't use in my dancing, such as my straw trilby, that I strictly tend to wear either in the summer or when on vacation in some hot tropical region (Bermuda, Bahamas, Puerto Rico etc.).
But yeah, situational vs constant. And yeah, I try to go for a whole look, rather than assume that the hat alone would make me look classy or feel good. Though like I said, it's more out practicality than looks these days. But I just hope people don't make a presumption about me because of said reputation for the hats.
It's sad and hilarious that the first comment is an "aktchually...."

Good hats are one of the best things about 1950s photos. Children wore baseball caps. Men wore good hats.
Wait a minute, I don't remember Blade wearing a fedora...
like how people wear bowlers and aren't aware they're the hat equivalent of being bald.
The incel neckbeards are gammas.
Oh, I'm aware of that, but my reasoning was never based on that stuff. To me, for my dancing, it's pretty practical as a prop, to act as an extension of my body when I try to improve my reflexes, but hardly a regular staple of any of my outfits. Hence why I was confused when I first learned of its association with neckbeards and try-hards, since I can't even see it being practical to actually wear everyday, even if one was trying to "look good".
I guess my point is that they THINK they're "alpha".
