Gen Z No father, no friends, no religion and therapy to cope
A recent study revealed that 42 percent of individuals belonging to Generation Z, born between 1990 and 2010, have been diagnosed with a mental health condition. The prevalent diagnoses include anxiety, depression, ADHD, and PTSD. Furthermore, twenty percent of them have sought therapy, and sixty percent are currently taking medication.

No father, no friends, no religion

In other words, no codependency.

No foundation, no good example, no competent guidance, thus 42% mental instability.

We've also discovered those mental illnesses aren't as cut and dry as they were decades ago as well as destigmatised them so people are more willing to seek help.

But it's obviously because they aren't as religious.

No community (humans are social animals).

It will only get worse. As I've mentioned in previous topics, the society will most probably dissolve in the near future. Individualism, hyper-competition, and atomization among other factors will make it certain.

Did you know that both ice cream sales and murder rates spike up during the summer?

So obviously, ice cream causes murder according to your logic.

I mean no father usually results in big poverty which leads for many to mental issues

I don’t want to put the blame on anyone, but they sure made the escapism easy and addictive with the internet and social media!

Also I don’t want to blame anyone(!), but many of our parents raised us on technology and didn’t really teach us much. I would like to admit that it’s partially our fault for never inquiring about it from our parents.

Also especially in America, we have no place to socialize outside of school or work, unless you live in specific locations. Also many of us don’t have properly developed social skills and are just awkward. I can’t speak for everyone, but I believe that’s how the majority of suffering Gen Z feels.

Also we’re the generation that went through high school during a global pandemic.

And I’ll admit that staying in contact with people feels like a chore. Social media is an easy way to get small interactions, and some erm become trapped by its comfort.

This is anecdotal but a lot of my friends (yes I’m saying that to seem more credible 😎) are afraid to order at restaurants, even fast food ones, and we prefer to use kiosks or mobile ordering instead.

I’ve noticed that if I’m alone with a stranger my age they would prefer to not talk and rather be on their phone, and to be fair I’m also part of the problem because I usually don’t initiate conversation with them. Also a lot of us are aware of the current situation of the world and erm.

That doesn’t speak for all Gen-Z though. There’s plenty of people that are outgoing and erm not unpleasant to interact with. It’s really up to the individual to decide who they are.

Sounds like what's left to them is to be a cog in the system, work consume die cycle.

Edit: At least they will work for shareholder value! For infinite growth! For profit of the corporations! Hyper commodification, hyper consumerism & general dehumanization of human-to-human contact is just a neglible side effect in the equation /sarcasm.

That's the thing I find most terrifying in this. People need to SOCIALIZE. Humans are SOCIAL ANIMALS. Go to your library, or local business (that looks friendly enough), or talk to your neighbors, or start a community project or contribute to one or join a group or support one.

Now now we aren't in the final phase of the mouse utopia experiment, the worst symptoms haven't begun so there's still time to mitigate the damage and maybe in a few generations start to heal the damage. However in the meantime we might see corporations profit out of misery as per usual, the medium-long term consequences be dammed.

talkking to people brings me excruciating pain actually. and not just because i cant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stand the sound of my own voice. no, theres OTHER reasons. see, when i was back there, in primary school, there were some little ♥♥♥♥♥ who maltreated me for some reason. ya hear? it was such a miserable experience, you wouldn't even believe it, i was, what, 14 at the time and i was already thinking about killing myself? don't really remember it all that well cuz every day was exactly the same (and it still is, just the place we go to has changed and i'm older now and uglier now). therefore, the logical conclusion is that the real reason behind My Generation™ being progressively stripped of social skills is NOT because of some outside influence, but actually just because of mutiny and self-sabotage. yeah, yeah, i get it, that these people probably weren't raised that well (or maybe they were raised too well, i guess it depends on how you look at it, if these people were taught by their mothers to grind their opposition into dust relentlessly then you might say, they've succeeded, and since that's a valuable trait these days - being able to get rid of your opponents without laying a finger on them, and letting them die by their own hands through use and abuse of psychological warfare - wow, wow, wow, very modern, undisputably modern method of removing your enemies from the board, we are very impressed with how you raise your children to be literal weapons of mass destruction).

In other news Joe Biden is seen eating Ice Cream at an appallingly high rate ... Is there a tie in there somewhere?

I don't believe everyone needs to be socially active. There are exceptions to every rule. You have to be taught common sense from a young age to cope with life at later stages. I don't believe that is happening anymore as much as it did in previous generations.

It doesn't help that there is an excuse for everything nowadays as well.

I’m so so sorry you had to experience that 🥺. I really am. And I really do truly hope you find some relief from the suffering you’re experiencing. I understand that the world is different for all of us and it’s a cruel place, but please try to hang on… if not for yourself, for the people who care about you, please? Also this may sound cheesy but there’s trillions of cells in your body working together to keep you alive! Please, you’ll find peace in something other than non-existence, I promise.
