is hellsing a good anime?

Hellsing, meh. Its fine. It was well-known and guess praised for when it was first released, because there wasn't much of its kind back then.
You'd be disappointed right after first episode, because the heroine(?) gets grope only in that episode, and non after. It's the only exciting episode of the anime.
Just like Death Note, when only first few episode is awesome, and rest is just pretty meh.

I liked it, my only complaint is that its unfinished and because it doesn't follow the manga you'll never really get a closure.


Hellsing Ultimate is considered superior but I still prefer the atmosphere of the older one.

it has good ideas, but has never really hung together for me.

anime was very cheap and doesn't do the cleanliness of the manga artwork justice, ultimate is over the top and has a hentai aesthetic to the animation and color design.

I remember Hellsing ultimate being one of the more awesomer animes I've seen.
