I hope AAA gaming collapses
We've reached a point where companies treat their customers with nothing but contempt.
I've been on a spree adding games to my ignore list.

I came from an age where they tend to make great AAA games, fact is some of these games still better polished compared to today standard.

for whatever it good it has done.

I think the developer were horrified to see I use games book and music to illuminate my struggle.

in a world filled with impregnable language written by lesser men. everything is just a degree of how men were doctrinated.

Been playing videogames since 1980, and I'm glad I've never gotten this jaded & bitter.

Sure, I don't buy many AAA games a year (well, I don't buy many new games of any size each year, I've got plenty of backlog and not enough time), but they've been fine for me. I certainly don't feel like anyone is "treating me with contempt"/etc.

Meh, whatever.

Then there is no AAA game.

It only say how much investment the game had. AAA is unlimited

Agreed.

Back in the time, i was EAGER to play a new NeedForSpeed game and spent many many hours inside. Late-90s....Early 2000s.

Now, they have TOO MANY clutter inside....

Other day, i drove off the countryside in game Mafia (2002) and peacefully rode along a silent Dam, a solitary motel, 1930s farms and serene villages....

Much MUCH better than queueing for an "all-conquering, best visuals" AAA game we keep hear about.

No thanks. AAA gaming has been poisoned by corporatism, and political motives and other DARK agendas for many years now.

DHS is literally attempting to mark gamers as domestic terror threats.
The FBI is grooming and identifying mentally ill minors to commit acts of terror, then arresting them.

Meanwhile you have a digital distribution model where a company can change your game 10 years after the fact without your knowledge.
Then there are situations like EA where for no reason they shut down Origin, took away everyones game library and expected everyone to buy it again. Or Ubisoft shutting down activation servers for their games making single player games unplayable.

Remember how digital distribution was supposed to lower the price of games? That the savings in transporting physical copies would be passed to the consumer?
Now those savings are being dumped into "marketing" and "consultant groups", devs are treated worse than ever, and they are raising the price of a new game to $70 or $80?

I'd consider that contempt, then again I'm not a masochist who spends my free time defending multi billion dollar corporations with arguments about how "akshuly maximizing profitz and expanding the base at the expense of your core audience makes sense and cash shops are a good thing".

Hehe, playing Tomb Raider (reboot) feels exactly like playing Star Wars (Fallen Order)... something really went wrong.

Stick with Stardew and be happy.

Tomb raider 2013 is one of the best games ever made

meanwhile, indie games tend to stuck between like earthbound, like rogue which idk if 99% of gamers know what rogue is, like souls, like quake or like hollow knight.

i want to make a shooter and do it what i see fit. of course, marketing and such but beyond marketing there's no point calling it roguelikes for anything rogue-ish. there's nothing much like it.

tbf, i don't want all, if that's what you mean, to collapse. some are still good. heck, even all of this inspired me to create my own indie game just to give a crap about it.

I don't know. It now seems like if you're not hacking in the latest game you're not trying.

I'm an older gamer and remember when only a few games were 3D accelerated. The others weren't because they didn't need it. Now AAA are big money makers. There weren't always. But now they're either the same as any military shooter, or some strange fusion of several genres like Palworld.

Whatever.

It already did. According to what I've heard, "AAA" is a buzzword. And the AAA doesn't mean anything.

AAA are legacy game publishers that decided the money was the most important part of the art form because the investors said so.

Mass ignoring is a bit excessive, there's only so much you can do. A boycott here and there is fine. Pick games that lead by a good example. Anything more than that, and you're just doing yourself a disservice

I buy and play stuff that looks and is enjoyable to me, don't care about the label, dev, pub, etc. Seems all fine by me.

The lunatics who keep posting death/rape/etc threats against game devs because their favorite gun got nerfed, or who swat people, probably count for this.

The FBI is grooming and identifying mentally ill minors to commit acts of terror, then arresting them.

And this is veering off into the standard paranoid conspiracy theory junk that's taken over the stupid sections of the internet - social media, political clickbait streamers, influencers, Off topic. . . I can only roll my eyes and lose a little more hope in humanity.

edit: the internet is an amazing communication tool, that allows people to come together with other like-minded individuals.
Unfortunately, this included the crazy tinfoil hatters who were only loosely-organized in the middle & late decades of the 20th century. Along with the militia nuts, misogynists, white nationalists, and other fringe crazies. A couple nutballs in every little rural town wasn't a big problem. All those nutballs hanging out together on FringeNutballs-dot-com (happily echo-chambering and reinforcing each others' delusions), on the other hand, has become a much larger issue.

No it's everyone and they have stated there is no goal and that it is politically motivated. They even say so in their own documents
https://www.gao.gov/assets/870/865897.pdf

But even more so, a search warrant compells co opperation for a specific illegal threat. Mass survailence does not. This isn't helping find a criminal, this is labeling everyone a criminal and finding the crime later and occasionally trying to bait them into committing a crime so you can get good stats.

This isn't a conspiracy. The video linked was proof the FBI does this.
They have done it more than once and in not knowing how image boards work accidentally revealed they targetted a schitzophrenic boy they told to stop taking his meds and commit acts of terrorism and his parents had to sue to get the FBI to ♥♥♥♥ off https://ceinquiry.wordpress.com/2019/06/17/fbi-8chan/

Calling it conspiracy theory when it is provable is just a form of dismissal. Do you call Jeffery Epstein a conspiracy theory too?
