The flu is the worst
I think we're in Hell. Its not fair. This recent winter flu bug I caught was easily the worst in seven years, it had my body and joints in absolute agony. Unable to smell or taste. Can't sleep. Had no energy to cook or clean. Bed-bound for two weeks, sweating constantly.

Painkillers and alcohol were useless against the virus. The only thing that could've eased my suffering was probably cannabis. But no, some religious prick decided years ago a lack of suffering devalues the meaning of life or something. If I were in hospital they'd just shut me up with morphine which is horrible and causes a total loss of appetite, and a downward spiral to death.

Being unable to smell or taste is a symptom of the Sars Covid-19 virus. Do yourself a favor a go get tested.

That sounds terrible. I had covid and it put me into bed for a week, with similar symptoms you described. It hit really hard. This was before vaccinations were rolled out widely.

I think people don't appreciate health until they are at their worst. It comes to my mind everytime I get a severe infection of something.

I love how every cold/flu is now covid.

They've got you well trained.

drinking alcohol is not a good thing when your ill btw, that makes it worse.
Especially when you mix them with painkillers.
No wonder you are feeling bad!

The only time in my life I have got painkillers, it happened when I broken my shoulder. I can't believe you are taking painkillers over a flu.

being dead is not bad

I can attest that, when I die, you won't hear me complaining about it

I was surprised when I got positive with covid myself.

Unlike a common cold or flu, it was just annoying and made me have a very pissed off annoyed mindset. I'm naturally chill in real life, but I wanted to lash out.

- Body aches and muscle pain
- Starts off slowly, then gives you a light headache
- An endless thirst that is hard to quench
- Body breaks into a sweat, specially at night, after it has learnt and develops b-cells against it
- Taste and smell might go (that is a clear sign of covid)

You should keep in isolation, drink fluids and rest. Watch some Netflix shows or something.

Alcohol actually works against the cold/flu virus, but not covid. Only 60% or higher alcohol hand gel should be used to clean your hands before eating/drink. Even wash with soap can break down the covid virus cell structure to deactivate it. So washing hands is ideal in stopping the spread. As Covid can be highly contagious.

I found Harker Herbals Deep Lung Support (formula 985) worked well, which is a blend of antiseptic herbs that help clear the airways.

If you can't get something like that, get an alcohol based mouth wash. You can at least rinse the mouth out.

I have too much empathy, so here's some apathy for you to enjoy:

there's stuff they will give you that is stronger than morphine, safer than fentanyl by miles. Called dilaudid I think. One time they gave me too many because they undershot it four times and I was still in legit pain so they did two massive injections afterwards and....I was feeling gooooood

Only problem was, this was for like a slipped disk or like a pinched nerve, or whatever, in my back. I would have felt actually much better if they had dialed back the opiates and also gave me muscle relaxers

There's no point in getting tested if they are already staying home. In fact, going out to get tested would be worse.
