Stop trying to make it sound cool

Because it's not.

Latest article I read was how the metaverse would transform the way we travel in 2023. Hmm. Incoming travel restrictions, or do they honestly think people will want to play a crappier version of "Second Life", a game that isn't even that popular?

If the metaverse becomes required for my job in the future, I am just going to put on the motion tracker suit, do deepfakes, and then write code so my metaverse character is just AI, doing what "I" am supposed to be doing

But I'll be doing "really weird" stuff like hiking and being in nature.

But yeah, if I have to read a hundred more articles about how the metaverse is cool, it's not going to change my mind. No matter how many "manufacturing consentfor the metaverse" articles I read, it won't change my mind.

VRchat is what Metaverse should be. Though the Easy Anticheat controversy was a huge bummer.

Metaverse is like watching a modern tv series or movie where characters are supposed to play computer game and play World of Warcraft release version that was released almost 20 years ago, screaming how exciting and awesome this is.

Carmack is all for it. His mindset, outwardly, is that it's a value and resource distribution problem and solution, and a new frontier. The way he put it was that not everyone gets to go to the races, so if you let someone go there in VR, you've improved their lives. And the more they prefer the world in the headset, the better, because you've improved their lives. So he'll just keep chipping away at it. I actually find it strange he's so involved at the managerial level.
