Why do so many people hate Minecraft?

Without bashing stupid things like graphics or performance (It can run on my computer when most games made past 2005 can't, so it's good enough for me) or saying that it's too addictive or some stupid ♥♥♥♥ like that, what exactly is so bad about minecraft? I enjoy it. I don't play it often because of frustration when I die, but that's just because I'm not very good at it.

Because the community is really bad on it. It's almost filled with little kids trolling eachother along with other people who just want to have a good time. Pretty much that group of gamers ruined it's repuatation from what i know.

I don't hate minecraft, but I was turned away from it after I spent a week and a half building up a villiage for my friends and I to play in so that I could surprise them with a pretty place to live while we all went exploring. It was also supposed to have an rpg element (the story of the town was that it was abandoned due to a curse). The result though, was that 1 friend hated it because he didn't have a hand in building the town and the other two just didn't care. It broke my heart that all my work for such a huge surprise went to waste.

People dislike anything mainstream so they can have the illusion that they are not mainstream and are better than others.

More popular the game, the more haters it has.

I loved it up until 1.2.5. I played since alpha 1.2, and I enjoyed every moment until that point. It started to get a little boring after 1.9 pre, but 1.2.5 was the end. No more good mods, Tekkit got slammed on, etc.

Feed The Beast and Tekkit are optional.

Mods like Tinkers Construct, Thaumcraft / Ars Magica, Universal Electricity / Buildcraft / Industrial Craft, Mystcraft, Modular Power Suits and Galacticraft adds to the experience in my opinion.

I honestly think that MC has been relying on mods for too long now. I think it's a good game but to be honest, building random shim gets boring after a while. And the servers, as said earlier, are filled with immature players. And the villagers don't add much experience to the game. They're only good for trading for diamonds with and than looting them. They should give quests to the player out. Don't even get me started on the combat and enemy AI. I can just build a brick wall and it'll stop the zombies dead in their tracks. They also just run straight at you and don't have any tactics. The combat is just having a good connection and smashing the mouse with your finger.

I have to agree with you on the combat, Shy Guy, except the fact that the creeper is simply the worst of all the enemies. You have to slay them from a distance and most of the time you don't see them until you hear that ungodly hiss... and the next thing you know you have a crater where your house used to be.

yes you are correct, the community is filled with immature tolls sadly, I think it would make a fun game if everyone just worked together in a community of creativeness. But no, like you said earlyer the people who play mc on the pc are about 9 - 12 years old.

Any game with a fandom is going to be bashed by other fandoms.
Those who hate on Minecraft aren't quite far from those who hate CoD, TF2 or whatever other game.

Some people define themselves by what they like, others do by what they hate.

So far i've loved it since the Beta (And i'm having a blast with the new expanded terrain generation)

I think Zefar summed it up nicely. Some people like building things without paying $100 for a box of Legos.
