Touchscreen friendly Games List
Hi,
I got a new hybrid notebook today, a Lenovo Think Pad Twist, which you can use as a normal notebook, or a rather big tablet. I want to know which games on Steam I can use in "tablet mode" with just the touchscreen. That is why I want to create a list of compatible games here. In the next few days I will try some games myself and edit this post accordingly, but I hope some of you can help...

- 10,000,000 -
Works.

- Back to the Future -
Needs mouse.

- Bejeweled 3 -
Works. (Needs keyboard for typing in name.)

- Bookworm Adventures 2 -
Works.

- Civilization V -
Works. (Use touchscreen mode when starting game.)

- Crayon Physics -
Works.

- Flight Control HD -
Works.

- iBomber Defense -
Works.

-Max and the Magic Marker-
Works.

- NEXUS - The Jupiter Incident -
Works.

- Plants vs. Zombies -
Works.

- Poker Night at the Inventory -
Works.

- Puzzle Agent I -
Works. (Have not tried all the puzzles.)

- R.U.S.E. -
Works.

- The Secret of Monkey Island - Special Edition -
Mouse is needed. :-(

- Ticket To Ride -
Works.

- Sword and Soldiers HD -
Even though it was first made for i-devices, no touchscreen support. Mouse pointer is displayed and only acts on small area in the center of the screen.

- Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 1 -
Works, but not perfectly. (Guess is, the other Chapters will work too.)

- Tower Wars -
Works.

- World of Goo -
Works. (Needs keyboard for typing in name.)

Also, how do we petition steam to have some kind of identifier for touch friendly games the way that they have for controller enabled games? This seems like massive selling point given the number of win 8 touch enabled devices now.
It won't happen because very few people use touchscreen on PC and there are even fewer games that support it properly. Civilization 5 is the only one I know that officially supports them, the rest just work because of either luck or they were ported from touchscreen devices.

Steam only lists games as controller-enabled for games that have native controller support built in, if the same were applied to touchscreen games, you would literally just have that one applicable game.
More games will be cross platform with tablets soon enough, there's already a fair few win store games that presumably don't bother with steam because they're missing features like this (I would expect a win store game to be touch compatible).

Was suggested way back in 2011 here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1986004 we should all go bump the post! :)
Check out XCOM also, seems to run just fine, well per a review I just read. I am buying it this week to report my official knowledge of its workings.

Other games that work (Not just steam)
Knights of Pen and Paper +1 Edition
Age of Booty
Creeper World 1, 2, and 3
Eets Munchies
FTL (change resolution in settings.ini to 1280x720, no stretch)
On the Edge of Darkness Precipice of Darkness, Episode 1 and 2 (can't dodge attacks though)
SepterraCore
Too the Moon (seemed slow)
Patrician Series (can't type in ship names however)
Guild Wars 2 (can't evade)
From Dust (almost playable, can't zoom or rotate camera)

Ill be figuring out more of my games that do and do not work on them. Most of you I figure have a keyboard, so using some commands, shouldn't be to bad like setting your character name. Other issues were not being able to quit out of games, or get to the windows screen to close them without a keyboard. all would be very easy fixes for game companies to make their games touch screen enabled.

Petitioning would not be the best idea. Go over to the Suggestions / Ideas section of the forum and post there.

:p2aperture:
This list seems to have everything already listed :( I will look through my library and see if there is anything else worth trying. I have a Lenovo Yoga as my laptop and honestly, I love playing Dungeons of Dredmor, Civ 5, etc on it more than anything. The HD might be tiny, but it can rock a game or two out.
Sorry to hijack this thread. I have cross posted this on r/Surface on Reddit.

This is a list of games I have compiled, along with a few that others have helped figure out. If you find more please add them. This post is being posted on the Steam Forums, along with r/Surface on Reddit. This list has been edited to show games that work with DPI scaling to 100%, changed from 150%.

Fixing Scaling Issues (temp fix, till every dev gets on board):
Changing DPI, in the Display control panel, choose screen resolution, then the text "Make text and other items larger or smaller. Select 100%. (Requires log off)

**On Screen Controls:**

Gestureworks Gameplay:
If there is a game not on this list and you still want to play it, and it is not supported by Touch or Stylus control, check out Gestureworks Gameplay, it adds an on screen controller, similar to that found in most iOS and Android games. Customization to your heart’s content, note some games do not allow them to run while playing them. For example World of Warcraft, as it is setup to block these types of programs due to botting, blocking all interactions through memory, and API libraries.

Overwolf:
This is an alternative to Gestureworks Gameplay. It currently offers limited game support, mostly games that are older than 1 year old. There is eight supported games, all using the same controller. There doesn't appear to be a user definable setup. What you see is what you get. The Overwolf application is also left on your screen for easy access. It does seem to have some fairly nice features. Note to download controllers you must visit their app store. The controllers as of now do not cost any money, and I am unsure if they will ever cost money.

Note a lot of games off the Google Chrome store do in fact work and a lot of them our touch based.
Most games that give access to nearly all commands via on screen controls, or have point and click style games, like the Diablo series, most RTS games, and a lot of top down tactical games. I am interested in buying Shadowrun Returns if anyone can vouch that it works with Touch or Stylus controls. Some of the above games, still need a Keyboard at the start, like World of Goo, to enter the players name, after which can be played without a keyboard. While other games, require a keyboard to do specific things like name ships, enter amounts, dodge attacks.

Please add any additional games you find that work with Windows 8.1 Tablets using Touch or Stylus interaction.

What exactly does "needs mouse" mean here? Don't most win tablets allow for clicking / rightclicking with the display outright?
That I am not sure, It was copied from the original posters.
Defense Grid The Awakening has full touchscreen support.

You make a fair point, but that I think highlights the need for steam to urge developers to include touchscreen options as I would have thought that would be a rapidly expanding market and certainly one for the future...its pretty bad that the best place to work out the answer to whether u can play real games on your W8Touch is this forum page...the answer should be YES< ON STEAM< HERES HEAPS OF GAMES!
Adding some bits from me:
GameDev Tycoon - Windows Store version. Steam version is not working on touch! (had to buy twice ;()
Omerta - City of Gangsters (I'd say "touchability" rating 4 of 5)
Arma Tactics (5 of 5)
added * Sonic All*Stars Racing Transformed along with all noted in the above post by bickus
Added Kingdom Rush, Revenge of the Titans, Titan Attacks, Go Home Dinosaurs, Droid Assault, Ultratron
Unstoppable Gorg work fine with touchsreen (touch rate 5/5)

Jack Lumber works so-so (touch rate 3.5ish/5)

Bard's Tale - not working - i was only able to move the pointer only during the menu screen

I tried Poker Night at the Inventory. It does work, but I could not get to the menu to change options, quit, etc.
