you may like the film "arrival" for this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrival_(film)
aliens do not invade, but they do come to earth. and humanity works together to figure out what they are and why they are here.
This. Add plants, fungus, bacteria, viruses etc. all of it.
This planet has been in world war for over 4 billion years, it will last at least another 4 billion, long after humans are gone, there will still be war.
Humans did not invent it, they just made it more ridiculous than it already was. MAD failed, we still war.
Peace was never an option.
if an advanced alien species really did attack earth, one far stronger than us, humanity would really have no choice but to be ceasing conflict and setting aside their differences at least for the time being if they wished to resist.
this concept is not explored very thoroughly in war of the worlds, but i am sure it is in other alien invasion media.
