Do killing in self-defense is a sin?

If you kill a aggresive sociopath who wanted to kill or kill you family, does it count as sin or not? I think not, since you didnt had other choice

Yes but God is theoretically able to forgive you for this sin, if he feels like it for whatever reason.

No, I consider that everything is good to protect your own life. When you protect your life you're not only protecting your life, you protect the pets who depend on you, your childs if you have some, your relatives, etc. It's not only about you, but also about the persons who depend on you or love you. You can't just let the other guy kill you that easilly, you have to be harder to kill than that.

In my religion God don't see it as killing because you was defending yourself. Now you kill someone out of anger or whatever else then you would have broken the 6th commandment. Thou shall not kill.

The self-defence paragraph is very clear. It's not a question of sin in that situation, but the appropriateness of the means to avert an unlawful attack.

The laws already contain the valid morality. ,-)

How naive ... I always remember this story about a woman, beaten by her husband who freaked out, fleed in the kitchen and grabed a knife to keep her husband away from her. But the guy was so angry he rushed at her no matter what and impaled himself on the knife, before dying.

So, what about this case for example ? And there is plenty of cases like this one. That's why you don't judge real world events on pure morals, you need to take the situation into account. Those who don't understand that, in a fight, things become chaotic and ugly really quick, probably never had to fight for real in their life ... In a real fight you're facing a lot of stress and you lose a lot of your physical and mental abilities as a result. Judging those cases in a quiet and civilized place make them look horrible, that's why you have to remember that's not that simple.

Still a sin, doesn't mean I won't stab the hell out of him though. I'm not religious guy.

Bible says turn the other cheek. Sit there and take it, unless you want to actually be a sinner in the eyes of your god. Meek shall inherit the Earth and whatnot, it's a sin to be violent period.
