There actually are paid shills on large forums like reddit. People like George Soros and his "Open Society Foundation" will hire people to do protests or post propaganda on forums in order to influence public opinion on certain issues.

Certain states like North Korea and China also have their own cyber warfare teams and they will post propaganda. The USA also has a cyber warfare team.

I've met a few of them in real life, mainly because they were stupid enough to let others know they were coming to my city.

See: Ghislaine Maxwell being a powermod on several massive subreddits as well as being one of the biggest users early on during the site's existence. Who knows how many other scummy elitist mods are out there.
