I just wish we could have some Steam OT arguments re-enacted like this. :papyrus:

Drama, you mean movies?
They both make really good ones, though Japan has the edge in horror. They are revolutionizing the genre.

Both have gems, and both have crappy movies. Same applies to any other country - I have seen my share of gems and bombs from an assortment of countries from the Western world.

I compare movies - like any other product or persons - just based by their own merit, and not based on their origins.

Agreed with this :steamthis:
As in any product / "service" of the Entertainment medium there's gems and there's generic and / or bad stuff, it's a highly subjective topic given that beauty is the eye of the beholder.

Japanese dramas just aren't dramatic enough for me, Korea takes it
repaeR 18/jun./2023 às 16:55
…but Korean drama kinda feels cheesy and awkward?!

Korean dramas are in a league of their own. Japanese ones always ruin it by adding some goofy crap

I love Resident Evil 2 (2019) and 4 (2005), some of my favorite games, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you can just tell they're Japanese because of that inevitable "goofy crap" you mentioned. In RE4, since it's an old game, I guess it does add some kind of charm, but they just aren't capable of making anything perfectly normal and serious, like Far Cry 2 for example. There always has to be something really weird, not unique or anything like that, but just randomly weird in a just for the sake of it in a typically Japanese way that I cannot really describe now (well, I can't be bothered, I'm about to go eat), but I just know it when I see it, it's that unmistakable and inevitable Japanese weirdness.

Top Tier - Thai Drama
Mid - Korean Drama, Chinese Wuxia drama (costume dramas)
Low Tier - Western Drama, Mexican Novelas
Bottom Tier - Japanese Drama, Chinese Modern Drama (drama set in modern times)

I like k-dramas over j-dramas as they are more relatable.
Probably because they portray passion in k-dramas whereas in j-dramas, their version of love is just about confessing a crush. :marijaonlooker:

Japanese drama don't feel natural. Some of their movie is fine but I only prefer to watch their anime. I enjoy Korean and HK drama and movie more. The only Korean anime I have watched was Seoul Station, don't know any other one.

10-20 years ago they are on par, but now korean are far better. They really have a knack for story.
Japanese drama does not really improve lately.
